This weekend, we celebrated another birthday with this super chic birthday girl - this year, for her 8th birthday, her dream was to have a fun fashionista themed creative birthday, and as a mom of three boys personally, I LIVE for this level of girly fabulousness 💅👗🎨

Our birthday girl wanted a more elevated painting experience, and we loved bringing this fashionista mixed media painting project to life 🤩. Each artist created their own unique dresses and at the end, they did the most amazing runway fashion show 😍👏🏽💗.

I had such a fun time with this party - working with these elements reminded me so much of my own childhood playing with paper dolls (if any little girls out there are dreaming of a paper dolls party, I am SO your girl 😍🥰).

I came up with an idea earlier this week to offer mix-and-match wooden playset art kits at our pop up events this year - our first event was yesterday, so it was quite the scramble to get it all together, but I got the sweetest feedback on this new offering (and I’m excited to give it some proper time and energy beyond a few days of behind the scenes panic prepping 🤣😅).

I have the best team ever - we had our team meeting on Friday and they didn’t bat an eye at my newest idea. They immediately saw the vision of these little customizable Polly pocket-esque playsets, and were like “of course we’re offering these now!” 🤣. The ideas for all the different variations of hand painted playsets just flew out of all our creative minds together, and the overall excitement about it hyped me up even more!

Running a creative small business is hard. I often share the fun moments, but behind it all is so much trial and error, so many hours working on things that aren’t guaranteed to make a return, navigating all the intricacies of partnerships, scheduling, marketing… I’ve been sharing our upcoming workshops & I imagine it’s easy to fall into the assumption that we’re killing it out here, but truth is, we’ve had to cancel lots of classes due to no registrations. I’ve been tested & pushed back to the drawing board, nudged into being even more creative than we already are to generate revenue and keep this whole mission alive.

I keep circling back to art kits, and expanding on our create-at-home offerings in an effort to further support our mission: making art accessible, affordable, approachable, and fun… Art for All.

These new little playsets combine creativity and play with natural elements - it’s so aligned with our mission, and I’m feeling really excited about them! So here’s the first official soft launch for our feed: .art took on the task of creating our little .craft.studio mini play set yesterday, and oh my goodness, I teared up when I opened it and saw the OG accent wall 🥹. (Also laughing at how well my team knows my heart… love you guys 💗).

Paint pouring has been an evolving journey for me. To be honest I didn’t even set out to host pour painting workshops when I first opened Heart Craft Studio, but my love for it only grew along the way. Through private creative exploration art experiences with some of our earliest students, and every workshop, team building, and birthday party since, this medium became something I felt so called to expand upon in our class offerings… but for deeper reasons than just to make some cool looking art.

Paint pouring requires a bit of creative abandon and trust. There’s something so beautiful that happens when an artist leans in and releases a bit of control, and with an open mind and heart, they wander themselves right into one of the prettiest things they never knew they could make.

It’s a team favorite for a reason.

Our entire team jumps at each opportunity to instruct our geode workshops (myself included!).

Warning: it can get a little addicting.

But the plus side is we don’t gatekeep - ask us anything about our process… we freaking LOVE IT when you leave our classes inspired and armed with a supply list for your own creative exploration.

And the plus + plus side - we’ve got a few different opportunities coming up for you to make your own with us (let us handle the mess so you can just show up, create, and have fun!).

This Tuesday, July 22nd, from 9AM to 12PM, we're turning River Bend Park into an incredible outdoor art studio for our Parkway Adventure Day! Your child will have a blast painting a beautiful nature-themed canvas with the talented team from Heart Craft Studio.

This week is lining up to be *the perfect* summer week in July - if you’re looking for a way to elevate your summer with a little creative something fun, check out this week’s events:

Monday, 7.21 at 10am is our bi-weekly Mixed Media Mingle at the Neil Orchard Senior Activities center! This week’s workshop: paint and plant! Paint your own garden art and plant a succulent to add an extra pretty little pot of nature into your life 🪴

Tuesday, 7.22 is our Paint on the Parkway: Pipevine Swallowtail event at Riverbend Park in Rancho Cordova! This is a fundraising event supporting the American River Parkway Foundation - an organization that is committed to education, exploration, and accessibility on the parkway! Learn more about what they do by following them , and be sure to sign your kids up for a unique summer activity out in nature! Ps - it’s going to be a high of 81 and partly cloudy… *truly perfect* plein air weather if you ask me!

Rounding out the week on Sunday, 7/27 at 1pm we’ll be hosting our Summer Citrus Paint & Sip! All ages welcome, and one drink is included per ticket!
