Chapel Concerts at Don Bosco hosts its final concert of the season on Saturday,
March 11 at 7:30pm in DeSales Auditorium. The concert will feature Ensemble Bella Luce, the
Giovanni Battista Pergolesi Trio from the Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Italy, and students from
Don Bosco Prep and Mary Help of Christians Academy, performing MUSIC OF THE
THEATER: Opera to Broadway to Pop. Ensemble Bella Luce” is a classical trio – Soprano Mara Adler
O’Kelly; Flutist Patricia Lazzara; and Pianist Dave Malyszko. A shared love of Italy, music and
the Italian language brought them together. Ensemble Bella Luce performs throughout the TriState Area, as well as in Italy. Their counterparts from Italy are Violinist Daniele Baione; Violist
Angelo Iollo; and Cellist Silvano Maria Fusco – all members of the orchestra at Teatro di San
Carlo, Naples, Italy – who perform world-wide. Repertoire will include favorites such as O Mio Babbino Caro; Funiculi, Funicula; as well as
American show tunes. Students from DBP will showcase music from their upcoming
school musical Shrek; students from Mary Help of Christians Academy sing favorites
from Mary Poppins. “This concert will have something for everyone,” says Toni Bilotti Cecere, Artistic Director of

Four weeks from today on Wednesday, April 5th, Don Bosco Prep will be hosting our annual Day of Giving with our theme, "One Day, One Home, One Bosco". The signifigance of this date is very special to us as it is the very day that Don Bosco Prep first opened its doors to young men, future Ironmen, in 1915. We will be calling on all members of the DBP family, past, present and even future to help us reach our goal. More to come soon!

Today as we celebrate International Women's Day, we honor the women of Don Bosco Prep for their dedication and contributions to our school community. Ironmen were offered an opportunity to “say hello to Jesus” today during lunchtime Eucharistic Adoration in the Sacred Heart Chapel. What a blessing during this season of Lent!

Congratulations to the Varsity Ironmen Robotics Team who won a finalist alliance (second place) trophy at the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC) District Event at Hatboro-Horsham High School over the weekend! 34 teams participated. (Robotics teams compete in playoffs in three-team alliances.) Although the team finished the qualification rounds in a disappointing 20th place due to a balky robot arm, they were chosen to be a part of the 5th alliance based upon their mobility, to complement a robot that had a good arm but poor mobility. This combination worked out fabulously, and the alliance made it to the playoff finals before losing the rubber match of a best-of-three series.

The FIRST Midatlantic District is made up of more than 125 teams in New Jersey, Delaware and Easter Pennsylvania. FRC robots can weigh up to 125 pounds.

Over the February break, eleven seniors and four staff members went to Puerto Rico on our first mission trip of the year. The week began with a half a day at El Yunque, the rainforest in Puerto Rico followed by an afternoon at Loquillo Beach. Our group spent four days cleaning and painting the exterior of the homes of Wanda, Nelson, and Ivette. On Ash Wednesday, they paused to celebrate Mass in the local town and went to San Juan. They then visited another the Salesians of Cantera. The group was given a tour of the Salesian parish and school, followed by lunch with the students. After lunch they enjoyed an animated game of basketball between the two schools in front of their student body. That evening they visited The Cathedral of San Juan and el Morro. Each day included Mass, some down time, along with morning and evening prayer with moments of reflection. Other things to note from the trip, are the people they met. Iris and Gilberto organized the different home repair projects and generously opened their home to the group for lunch each day. Nelson, one of the home owners, took time to share his story and experience as well as cook bacalaito for the group. Puerto Rico is an island we normally think of as a vacation spot has been transformed into the island that many of our new friends call home. This mission trip has surely changed the lives of the Ironmen who participated, and we have no doubt that they have left their mark on the hearts of all those that they met and served. Huge thanks to our chaperones, Br. Travis Gunther, SDB, our Coordinator of Youth Ministry, Mrs. Terry Brooks our school nurse, Ms. Liz Hampson, Math teacher at DBP and Nicholas Jandernoa, Salesian pre-novice. We thank God for a successful mission trip and a safe return home!

The Class of 2023 has already received some impressive college acceptances! We cannot wait to see what your future holds.

Don Bosco Prep theater and media students were paid a visit from Mr. Tommy Coriale '01, who shared his experiences as executive producer and film/tv industry standards. Tommy Coriale is a 2001 graduate from Don Bosco who is currently the president of Heavy Metal studios where he is launching a Film and TV Studio based on IP from the historic magazine. Formally the head of DIGA studios and Executive in Charge of Production at the Warner Brothers subsidiary Shed Media. He has overseen hundreds of hours of television as Executive Producer and Production Executive on networks such as Netflix, ABC, MTV, Bravo, VH1, and more. We are always grateful when our alumni return to campus to share their insights and experiences with fellow Ironmen, thank you Tommy!

Congratulations to Don Bosco Prep's very own, Anthony Steven Coronel '23! Anthony Steven Coronel has gone through a rigorous process applying to the United States Air Force Academy including a series of congressional interviews, fitness tests, and medical examinations. In preparation for his future work, Anthony has volunteered with non profit organizations and leadership programs. He received a congressional nomination last month from congressman Josh Gottheimer, New Jersey’s 5th house of Representative becoming the only South American immigrant First generation non-U.S citizen to receive a nomination to the Armed Forces this year. Being part of the 8% of nominees being Hispanic. He has committed to taking a one year of service enlistment into the Air Force in the Cybersecurity space following his training at the Air Force Academy. We are very proud of you Anthony. Keep making DBP proud!
