Learning Business Through Hands-On Experience!

Senior Business Capstone students recently had the opportunity to learn about graphic design and the printing process from alumnus Joe Kellum, co-owner of Kellum Imprints.

Joe shared how artwork can be adjusted and prepared for different printing methods, helping students better understand how to turn their ideas into finished products. Students are putting those lessons to work as they develop possible designs for this year’s senior shirts.

Mrs. Traci Kerns has been working with her seniors to find fun and innovative ways to use the school’s STEM equipment to design and produce the shirts themselves.

But this project goes far beyond graphic design! Students are getting real-world business experience by learning how to:

* Create and prepare designs
* Market their products
* Collect and manage orders
* Process payments
* Produce and fulfill orders
* Track costs and profits

It’s a great opportunity for students to experience the entire process of taking a product from an idea to the customer while building skills they can use in future projects, careers, and even their own businesses!

Can a polygraph really catch a lie? 🕵️‍♀️🧠 This week, Ms. Holzbog's Biomedical Science students dove into experimental design—learning how polygraph testing works, collecting baseline data, running their own experiments, and interpreting physiological-change graphs to identify classmates’ lies. Next, they’ll analyze suspect interviews from an ongoing class project and discuss the real-world ethics and use of polygraphs in criminal investigations.
