Happy Thanksgiving, Wolfpack Warriors! As we round out the semester, we’d like to thank Cadet Salcido and her wing staff for all of their hard work this semester, and welcome Cadet Martindale as the Spring 2022 Wing Commander! We also recognized Cadets Teague and Silluzio at Final Awards as POC and GMC of the semester with their own turkey hats! 🦃

Last week at LLAB, cadets practiced mission scenarios with paintball! After learning land nav, bounding, small unit tactics, and Entry Control Points the week prior, we went to Schenck Forest and put those skills to the test in a more practical environment. Thank you to Lt Scoggins (STO/CRO) and Capt Raemsch-Sawyer (Security Forces/Force Support), both State grads, for participating and sharing some of your experiences!

Our cadets showed out last week for the NC State Football Military Appreciation Game and won the tug of war competition! We also had cadets present the colors during the national anthem, guard the POW/MIA seat in the stadium, do push-ups on the push-up board, and help fly the flag during halftime!

Last week at LLAB, both POC and GMC cadets were inspected for proper uniform wear and dress & appearance standards during an Open Ranks Inspection to make sure everyone was staying up to s***f. We also held our midterm awards where we recognized cadets for their outstanding performance in their class as GMC, or in their POC job position. Congratulations to everyone who was recognized!

Thank you Air Force ROTC Det 585 for this amazing opportunity to hear General Charles Q. Brown Jr. speak!

Earlier this month, on September 1st, Cadets from across the Triangle gathered at the Washington Duke Inn & Golf Club for a ROTC-focused brief and question and answer panel with the Chief of Staff of the Air Force Chief of Staff, General Charles Q. Brown, Jr. General Brown serves as the senior uniformed Air Force officer responsible for the organization, training and equipping of 685,000 active-duty, Guard, Reserve and civilian forces serving in the U.S. and overseas.

In this photo you see the future leaders of our Nation's defense... Future Airmen, Guardians, Sailors, Soldiers, and Marines who are taking the path less traveled, the one that takes them towards a commission and a profession in servant leadership.

An evolving AFROTC

Last week, Det 595 made use of Zoom by working in ELP groups. In this picture, cadets were tasked with blindly typing a message that only one cadet could see. Effective communication and other essential leadership skills were being sharpened with these ELPs.

For the last part of our Cape Canaveral trip, we visited more historic launch sites.

Most importantly, we visited the Apollo launch site, where it’s now set up as more of a memorial for those who died in the disaster. On a lighter note, we visited the Kennedy Space Center which was amazing! It was a super cool place and cadets got to ‘get their nerd on’ or at least admire the cool things, and even go on the shuttle launch experience ride they had.

Small Unit Tactics!

Yesterday, Security Forces personnel from Seymour-Johnson AFB visited to talk to our cadets and teach them about land navigation, fire squad formations, and radio/9-lines. Thank you, SJAFB!
