Something to consider...
Everyone wants to call the shots—
until they feel the weight of responsibility.
Recently, I was talking to a former client about the pressures of communicating during a crisis.
It wasn’t simply about delivering the right message.
It mattered how well they held the moment.
They were in a situation where every word mattered.
The kind where people aren’t just hearing you,
they’re reading between the lines,
watching your body language, waiting to see if you flinch.
They shared with me one lesson they still carry from our work together.
"Pressure doesn’t demand perfection. It demands presence."
And when I asked them what that looks like in real time, they said:
"It means I don’t have to have the perfect response. I just have to be steady enough for people to trust the moment."
That really stuck with me.
Because when the stakes are high, it’s about more than having a plan.
it’s about how you carry the pressure while you figure it out.
This means:
• Holding space for uncertainty without letting it rattle you.
• Staying present enough to respond, not just react.
• Understanding that people are listening to your words AND they’re feeling your energy (yes even through a screen).
The folks who get it?
They don’t chase certainty.
They don’t scramble for control.
They know how to stay grounded in the moment,
even when everything around them is shifting.
So how do you navigate pressure?
Not by powering through.
But by regulating, recalibrating, and moving with emotional clarity.
Because pressure does more than expose your decisions.
It exposes your presence.
What’s something people don’t understand about navigating high-pressure moments?
If this made you think, share it.
