DEADLINE MONDAY: The Center for Safer Schools Student Advisory Council is accepting applications from current eighth- and 10th-grade students who want to make a difference in school safety.
Council members work alongside education leaders to share student perspectives, address school safety concerns and help create positive change in schools across North Carolina.
We are especially seeking applicants from the Western, Northwest, Piedmont-Triad, Northeast, Southeast and Sandhills regions.

Participants in LivingWorks ASIST (Applied Su***de Intervention Skills Training) learn how to engage directly with a person thinking about su***de, reduce immediate risk and co-create a personalized Safety Plan that promotes hope, safety and connection.

The Center for Safer Schools will hold RISE Academy sessions on Friday, Sept. 18 at College of The Albemarle (Currituck Campus) in Barco and on Tuesday, Sept. 29 at Brunswick Community College in Bolivia. Session topics will include Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design, Human Trafficking, Teen Dating Violence and Va**ng.
