Literacy is a critical skill for students. Many schools and districts have implemented initiatives to incorporate literacy skills across the curriculum for the benefit of their students. Often, testing performance is tied to school funding. When budgets are cut, art is usually the first program to be removed. However, art is also one of the few classes that students are excited to attend, and we can leverage that interest to motivate students to write about their work, sharing their creative visions. Reading, reflecting, writing, critiquing, and editing can seamlessly be incorporated into art classes. My own students outperform their peers regularly on written assessments because we do these exercises regularly in art. When the administration sees this, my program's future is secure, and funding increases.

We are doing our last update to "The Art Student's Workbook" and will transition to a new title in 2022. "The Workbook For Art Students." It will be a bit longer, include space for independent projects, and will include more sketching pages and links to video resources we have been creating.

I have shared quite a few new resources on my blog and have just added many of them to my books; "The Art Student's Workbook" (Teacher & Student Editions) My "Advanced Art Workbook" (Teacher & Student Editions) and "Art Assessments."

Over Covid distance learning, I created a lot of new tutorials and resources, so I added many links to those in the workbooks so that supplemental resources could be pulled up as well.
