North Carolina native Risa Poniros is known to listeners as a soprano who does not think twice about crossing the lines of genres in her performances. She possesses an insatiable passion for the American music genres, be they classical, operatic, musical theater, spiritual, American art song, and any other challenge that comes her way. Dr. Poniros holds degrees from UNC-Greensboro (BM), The University of Tennessee at Knoxville (MM), Northwestern University (Certificate in Vocal Performance), and Columbia University Teachers College (Ed. An active performer, she participates in styles that cater to her audiences. Dr. Poniros offers master classes in performance practices, auditioning skills, choral workshop environments, solo and group singing of various styles.
