In 1894, North Carolina College of A&M welcomed its first Professor of Military Science. The college required all male students to study Military Science until a policy change in 1965. Between 1917 and 1942, more than 14,600 students received military training in the Army ROTC program. In the past 90 years, the program has produced over 2,500 Army officers. Twenty-four of NC State’s Army ROTC graduates have reached the rank of Brigadier General or higher.
