France has updated its school curriculum to include pet care and animal respect as part of moral and civic education, giving children structured lessons on empathy, responsibility, and how animals feel from a young age.

The programme is formally integrated into what students learn at school, not just an occasional club or workshop, and aims to help kids grow up with compassion toward animals, and people, as a core value.
