After our visit with the アメリカ大使館 U.S. Embassy Tokyo, we had the opportunity to stop by and support a good friend of the , Cathy Ma, from the NC Department of Agriculture hosting a "Taste of NC" event with in Tokyo. NCDA is relentless in introducing NC food products to the world and helping grow NC's economy while helping support the livelihoods of our great farming communities!

Another awesome NC x Japan connection at ... George W Vanderbilt was invited to and attended Emperor Meiji's birthday celebration in 1892, returning to NC with over 30 crates of art and antiquities.

HI-CHEW is one of the most loved candies in the country, and North Carolinians make them right here in Mebane! I got to visit the Morinaga headquarters in Japan last year, and it’s now a pleasure to welcome company leaders back to NC to celebrate the ribbon-cutting for Morinaga’s second manufacturing facility outside of Asia!

Enrollment is now open for 2025 Fall Japanese Language classes at the NC Japan Center, and
Classes begin on August 25 for 15 weeks. We have a variety of students learning Japanese, including those interested in Japan and those preparing for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test.
