Our core academic course of study for grades K-8 includes Language Arts, Mathematics, Social Studies, Science, and Religion. Spanish is considered a core subject area in the middle school, but a specials course for kindergarten through 5th grade. Specials classes include Physical Education, Art, Music, Technology, and for our elementary students, Library. Saint Raphael Catholic school follows the

curricular guidelines of the Diocese of Raleigh which are based upon the standard course of study for the public schools of North Carolina. Raphael offers an extensive leadership training program for all middle school students. Saint Raphael Preschool, an award-winning school for 2–5 year-olds, provides preschool-aged children with opportunities to make friends, grow in self-confidence, and prepare for future academic success—all while having fun in a secure, nurturing, faith-filled environment. Teachers are certified/credentialed and lovingly foster students’ social-emotional, spiritual, physical and academic growth. Large, bright classrooms are designed to stimulate experiential learning and discovery. Creative Movement, Music and Spanish as well as Cultural Arts enrichments are included in the program. All four- and five-year-olds also attend the beautiful Catechesis of the Good Shepherd faith formation program. Extended day students participate in Science, Math, Art and Drama activities.

Every tradition tells a story, and our 8th Grade & Kindergarten Walk-In is one of the most meaningful chapters in the Guardian journey. Each year, our oldest Guardians welcome our youngest with open hearts and helping hands, showing them what it means to belong to our SRCS family. As our Kindergarteners take their first steps into SRCS, they do so with guidance, encouragement, and love from those who have walked the path before them. This walk is more than a step into school, it is a step into the Guardian family. This is what it means to be a Guardian: walking together in faith, lifting one another up, and celebrating the joy of learning and growing as children of God at SRCS.

Our SRCS community gathered in faith and reverence for an All-School Mass celebrated by Fr. Tom Simisky, SJ and hosted by our eighth-grade Guardians last week. United around the altar, we lifted our hearts in prayer and thanksgiving and received the grace of the Holy Eucharist. May Christ remain at the center of our school and continue to guide, strengthen and bless our entire Guardian community.

As we celebrate the beginning of another school year, we are looking back at one of our most cherished SRCS traditions, Sign Day!

Sign Day is more than delivering signs. It is a joyful welcome for our newest Guardians and a beautiful reflection of the lasting relationships formed within our SRCS community.

One SRCS parent recently shared a special memory from her family’s Guardian Sign Day experience. An eighth grade student delivered a sign to welcome her kindergartner to SRCS. Later that same school year, the parent and her Guardian had the joy of returning the kindness by delivering a promotion sign to that student as they prepared to complete their chapter at SRCS. This full circle moment beautifully reflects the Guardian way and created a cherished memory for both families.

We are deeply grateful to the SRCS parents, students and volunteers who give their time to continue this timeless tradition. Through their kindness and service, every new Guardian and family receives a warm welcome and knows that they are a valued part of our SRCS family.

May God bless our newest Guardians as they begin their SRCS journey. Welcome to the Guardian family!
