Mistletoe Market to benefit WHS PTSA

Mistletoe Market to benefit WHS PTSA The OFFICIAL AND ONLY page for the Mistletoe Market benefiting the WHS PTSA fundraiser. Each year we collect over 1000 pounds of food for needy families.

The Mistletoe Market Holiday Fair at Wakefield is one of the largest shopping extravaganzas in the Triangle area with over 200 vendors each season. 2022 will be our 21st year. History: The Junior Class council and their advisor began running an arts and crafts fair as a fundraiser for the Prom in 2000. As the event grew, the WHS PTSA got involved and in 2003 started using it as their main (and onl

y) fundraiser for the year. The event has continued to grow and become one of the most anticipated events of the holiday season. There is always a wonderful variety of merchandise to shop from including: women’s accessories; gourmet food; ceramics; jewelry; baby items and children’s books; doggy apparel; paintings; Christmas crafts; wreaths, trees, and garland; glass ornaments; home décor and more. After all expenses are taken into account, the Mistletoe Market raises thousands of dollars each year for our school based upon admission sales, vendor booth rentals, basket raffles, a bake sale and food court concessions. This annual event also partners with Tri Area Ministries, a non-profit organization benefiting local communities for over 30 years, which encourages shoppers to donate canned food items on shopping day. The Mistletoe Market committee is comprised of parent volunteers who begin their work in July, soliciting and receiving vendor applications, and working on various sub-committees to put on the show. School department chairs (teachers) help to solicit baskets and filler items for the basket raffles. Clubs and booster organizations are also represented at the event: Wakefield Band Boosters, Wolverine Club, FFA, and FCCLA. Wakefield students from a variety of honor societies and clubs volunteer to work before, during, and after the show – preparing, promoting, setting up, day-of duties, and taking down. Over 100 students are involved during this time, and they have a great reputation for being courteous and helpful with both vendors and shoppers. Students are instrumental in helping to transform the first floor commons area and both gymnasiums into the Jingle Bell Jazz, Winter Wonderland, Sleigh Bells, and Deck The Halls experience. Reindeer Run, in which vendors exhibited outdoors, was added in 2013. Mistletoe Market profits go directly into the programs of the PTSA like staff luncheons for 200+, student scholarships, departmental grants, Lamp of Knowledge academic awards, PRIDE and AIM student awards, faculty and staff appreciation week, and parent programs.

Happy Monday! I have had a number of people reaching out to see when they would know whether they have been accepted or not. As per previous years, we will send out acceptance letters by September 1st - likely a bit sooner. In that acceptance letter there will be a link for your payment. That payment is due by September 13. If you want to see more information, our website has Frequently Asked Questions, dates, maps etc https://wakefieldhs.givebacks.com/w/mistletoemarket.

I only have a few booths left to assign and it is very challenging as I have so many vendors for those few spots. I also have to be mindful of what products are already being sold nearby, so that people's sales aren't adversely impacted by too much duplication.

Note that we do not send out an email unless you were accepted, as you automatically go on the waitlist - unless we are informed you want to be removed. We take vendors from that waitlist every year (including the day before the event). as unexpected situations arise, when vendors can't make it - or they decide they can't join us as they can't make the booth they were allocated, work for them.

Hope this helps!

Hi everyone, I am currently going through my cross referencing process. So what does that mean, I hear you ask? Well, all of you may not be asking, but I am going to tell you anyway, lol. Amongst other things, I am:

1 - Checking photos received vs application received and;
2 - Checking applications received vs photos sent.

I know I have items missing in both categories.

If you sent an application, please double check that you sent photos for this year's application. I am holding off on those emails at the moment, but I definitely know that I don't have photos from all of you yet. If you can send them to me that would be fabulous! Thanks and have a spectacular Friday night!

Hope everyone is enjoying this beautiful Carolina day! It occurred to me thanks to some correspondence with one of our new applicants, that many of you likely have no idea of the layout of Mistletoe Market, hence you don't know which area is where. I shared this overall map in the past, but will pin it now, so it can be found easily in the future. It is by no means perfect and was created many years ago, but t will give you a rough idea of locations. Reindeer Run is outside on your right.

Remember to put your business name in the email, and if you can name the photos with your business name and _1, _2 etc that is a bonus too.

Let me know if you have any questions!

Hello lovely people! It is great to be back home😁. Alas the day so far has been taken up running errands including dropping off the car to have a tire leak fixed (the joy that met us when we started driving again yesterday🙁), picking up new glasses for my son (which are going to have to be remade as the frame is a bit too big), and doing some much needed grocery shopping. Thankfully, I think I can finally going to start going through the multitude of photo emails I have received, and started the whole download, renaming process.

Returning vendors, don't forget you have till 11:59pm tonight. We then close the application till Monday at 8am - https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPItFFUxrjhPIc2xTYRPCkYL228PoCm6oQUxAoZkJKjvFlFQ/viewform?usp=sharing&ouid=112183968327096638357

Fingers crossed they can patch the tire and I don't need to buy a new one!!!

Good morning! I have managed to update the website from my phone, so if you know a returning vendor who is not on Facebook but needs the application, it is now there. I see lots of applications coming through, but won't respond to their receipt until l am in front of a computer (hopefully late tomorrow night), otherwise l will lose track of which photos l have uploaded to our drive.

Returning vendors, the application form is now open!https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLScPItFFUxrjhPIc2xTYRPCkYL22...

The form will remain open till Wednesday, 11:59pm and then reopen for new vendors (and those of you who missed this application window), on Monday.

Remember to send photos to [email protected] after you submit your application. Please send photos as either JPG or PNG as all other formats lead to more work for me, as I have to then convert them to be able to use them for future Facebook posts.

Let me know if you have any questions, but please be patient, as I will be traveling this week and may not be able to answer immediately.

Looking forward to seeing your applications - and photos!
