So happy you’re here! I’m so excited to be starting tutoring! I am a 15 year wcpss veteran teacher, but I am not currently teaching full time. In addition to working with students 1-1 or in small groups, I also offer: educational support for parents, special education support, working with families to create individualized plans that are easy to implement for at home(behavioral, schedules, reward systems, and much more), consulting with parents for: IEPs, testing, resources, etc.
I have a master’s degree from NCSU in Education, with specializations in: special education, learning disabilities(dyslexia/dysgraphia can be characteristics of an SLD struggle with), literacy, ABA or Behavior Management. In addition to decoding, encoding, fluency, comprehension, and writing, I truly love teaching math(computation and problem solving). I am Orton Gillingham & Science of Reading trained. I know the struggle is real with common core math for most families, because, well, that’s not how we were taught:) But, I can help! Lastly, social emotional learning (I prefer “social detective skills:), behavior challenges both in the home and at school, and executive functioning skills.
For most areas of interventions, 2-4 days a week is ideal, 1-1 or up to 4 students. With the exception of “social detective” sessions, which in order to be taught with efficacy, would be in small groups up to 6-8.
