Carolina Youth Dance Academy - CYDA Our mission is to offer professional dance training in all genres of dance to young, aspiring dancers.

We are here to provide top quality dance education, discipline, self-esteem, and teamwork. Our highly qualified staff is ready for you to become a part of our dance community.
• CYDA uses the art of dance as a vehicle to increase

self-esteem, focus,
teamwork, creativity, artistic expression, and music appreciation. CYDA works to instill a professional work ethic necessary for dance and beyond. CYDA members program range from those interested in pursuing a dance career after high school to those seeking a highly motivated and proactive extracurricular activity to complement their academic work.
• CYDA rewards excellence, leadership, and talent with scholarships and
professional performance opportunities to the youth of the community. CYDA strives to educate and revitalize a passion for dance through the finest instruction and performance. With professional and youth dance companies, as well as a strong community outreach program, CYDA continues to be a leader in the vitality and diversity of Carolinas dance community.
• CYDA promotes smart life choices and encourages students to become
positive role models. CYDA offers comprehensive dance training in multiple disciplines to students of all experience levels, ages 3 and up. CYDAs educational community outreach program “Swing into Dance” explores the history of the art of dance through performance and narration, reaching thousands of children each year via in- school performances, demonstrations and field trips.
• CYDA helps bring forward youth leaders and develop confidence by embracing the Montessori type learning environment

The CYDA participates in many local festivals in The Triangle as well as National Dance Conventions across the country. CYDA also promotes master classes offering higher level training in all forms of Dance. Artistic Directors
Carolina Youth Dance Academy is under the artistic direction of founders Debbie Ramsey and Ryan Boz. Debbie Ramsey, after more than 40 years of professional dance experience, wanted to share her education and love of dance with young students. Ryan Boz, by being young himself (16), he offers a quick connection to the youth dancers, Ryan has already been traveling the world teaching, choreographing and performing for over 10 years. In this new millennium, Carolina Youth Dance Academy is proud to blend the modern styles of today From Ryan with the timeless beauty of the classical styles from Debbie. Debbie and Ryan celebrate together in the joy of educating the youth in the Art of Dance and especially, partner dances. They enjoy working collaboratively and as such have created a well-rounded curriculum and dance program for CYDA members. The positive environment and attention to the details of dance training by Debbie and Ryan, allow the dancers to flourish and this can be seen in Carolina Youth Dance Academy productions. While fostering an appreciation for the performing arts, CYDA also encourages dancers to pursue their interests as choreographers, administrators, and other dance-related occupations.

Hey I am so excited to let you all know that this Sunday, February 18th, because Ryan Boz, the normal West Coast Swing DJ on Sundays at the Elks Lodge, is on the West Coast at the Capitol swing event, DJing in his place will be the original DJ of this family! That would be me…. If you didn’t know, I started DJing in the 70’s.

I have been collecting cover songs, 70’s songs that swing, and digging out the WCS oldies but goodies. Monday is a holiday, so most of you can stay up late and PLAY! If we get enough dancers to come out, I would be willing to play OVERTIME!!!

I will start DJing around our 8:45pm break, when we give away money… If you have never joined us on a Sunday, the address is 5538 Lead Mine Road – The Elks Lodge – Corner of Lead Mine and Millbrook. Enter through the double white doors.

Here is the video for "Good Day" by Nappy Roots. Join the Carolina Youth Dance Academy for a special free 1 hour workshop this Sunday (August 7th) at 12 pm at the Elks Lodge in Raleigh, 5538 Lead Mine Road. Written notes below.

Everyone is welcome to join us, our plan is to perform this Line Dance at Trilogy Swing in Raleigh September 11th.. Time TBD.

We have 2 more rehearsals, 12 pm, same location, August 14th and September 4th.

We are inviting the Dance Community to Join us on stage... Below you will see the choreography written out and I hope to post a video soon, however, know that this is a 1 wall line dance and is fairly easy to learn on your own.

If you live in the Raleigh area, I am planning three (3) 1 hour practices at the Elks Lodge in Raleigh (5538 Lead Mine Road) FOR FREE, at 12pm on August 7th and 14th and September 4th . Masks will be required for the practice days but will be optional on performance day.

The line dance we will perform will be “Good Day” by Nappy Roots and can be found on most music platforms. Please contact me if you cannot find it.

CYDA hopes the Dance Community will learn our Line Dance and join us.

If you plan on attending any of the rehearsals in Raleigh, Please RSVP to me by text at 919-274-4400.

These FREE Zoom classes will be offered at 2pm (ET) on September 4th, 11th, 18th, 25th and October 2nd, 9th, 16th, 23rd. Our goal is to be able to perform our original line dance at various locations in October 2021 including the North Carolina State Fair.
