This conference has really got me thinking! Am I actually hopeful?!

I don’t think I ever once got complimented on my clothes in middle school… But today I was complimented by TWO 8th grade boys on my shoes! should I believe them? The only reason I got them was because they were my favorite color and only $8 at the thrift store! ?

I don’t think the student that made this coloring page 6 years ago would’ve ever thought that this would become a legacy piece that would be in my classroom for years to come. “Cursed SpongeBob” makes so many of my students laugh. # #

I used to love assigning sketchbook homework when I first started teaching in 2015. After Covid,I found that sketchbooks were something that was no longer given priority and students were not turning them in, and I cut them from my curriculum for many years. But this year, I decided to try bringing back visual journals and sketchbooks and rework them as warm-ups! I am so happy that I did. I LOVE seeing the creative takes on each weeks’ prompts. I like that as warm-ups students get settled and I have a chance to get attendance in on time! The engagement and excitement for these short prompts have given me hope that I can start adding things back into my art curriculum rather than see what I have to cut out.
