From joining UCBC as a visiting lecturer to serving today as Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management, Dr. Rebecca Wasingya’s journey reflects what happens when potential is recognized and nurtured.
At UCBC, leadership is not defined by position alone, but by service. Dr. Wasingya models a servant leadership style that is grounded in heart and humility. She raises the bar and lifts others in the process, creating opportunities for women to lead and to strengthen their classrooms as well as their communities.
Through teaching, mentorship and leadership development programs, Dr. Wasingya is helping shape a new generation of changemakers who lead with integrity and purpose.

The work of transformation in eastern Congo is not done alone. It is part of a larger story of the global Church.
Through partnerships, prayer and shared mission, churches and individuals around the world are walking alongside UCBC students and their communities. Together, we are learning from one another, encouraging one another and participating in God’s work of renewal.
This is what mission looks like today—not one-directional, but mutual. A global community joined in faith, hope and a shared calling to serve.

“Choosing UCBC has been an underrated blessing that I cannot overlook. I am entirely grateful for the 4 years passed at UCBC, which have indeed left an unforgettable footprint in my life. UCBC has molded me into the person I have become today, the values of Tuko Pamoja which have remained constant in me, the lessons taught at chapel which don’t go unheard but suddenly become a habit, the time of great discoveries of potentials that I never thought existed in me, the group of women’s voices that gives us the opportunity to integrate with other women and make us believe that we matter and that we can achieve anything if we believe in ourselves, and this in turn helps us build our confidence, our lecturers who make learning feel easy and for their patience. Today, as I leave not as I came, my heart is full of gratitude and prayer to keep the good values I acquired. I am very positive and optimistic about the future.”
- Sonia Kamanda, 2025 UCBC Graduate

Eastern DRC is facing yet another crisis. An Ebola outbreak in Ituri Province has already claimed dozens of lives and continues to spread, bringing renewed fear and uncertainty to communities already enduring years of conflict and instability.
Families in places like Bunia and Mongbwalu have faced displacement, violence, and ongoing insecurity — and now a deadly contagious disease. Please keep the people of eastern Congo in your thoughts and prayers as health workers and local communities work urgently to contain the outbreak and care for those affected.

“You can become anything you want. It all depends on your determination.”
For UCBC alumnus Kelly Mulisya, these words from his late father continue to shape the way he lives, works and creates.
Today, as an entrepreneur and co-founder of M.Cuts Production, Kelly is driven by a vision to tell authentic Congolese stories with excellence and originality. His work reflects not only his talent but a deep commitment to using storytelling to serve others and uplift his community.
At UCBC, he learned to think beyond the classroom. Now, he’s passing that vision on by training others and helping ensure that powerful local stories are told by those who have actually lived them.

What does student life look like when it’s centered on purpose?
At UCBC, it’s vibrant, relational and deeply formative. Students aren’t just earning degrees—they’re building friendships, serving together and becoming part of a growing network of changemakers across Congo and beyond.
From campus activities to community engagement, student life is where ideas are shared, leadership is practiced and a shared vision for transformation takes root.
These connections don’t end at graduation—they continue as a lifelong network committed to building a more just and flourishing society.

In honor of the many women we celebrated this past weekend, we want to take a minute to celebrate the women who lead, nurture and shape the future of Congo—often in quiet, powerful ways.
At UCBC, the Nyota Leadership Program is investing in young women who are stepping into that calling with courage and vision. These students are growing as leaders in their families, churches and communities—equipped to bring lasting change in eastern Congo.
Their stories remind us that leadership is not just about position, but about influence, integrity and service.
We celebrate the next generation of women leaders they are inspiring.
