~introducing me~

I realize I’ve had this account and store for some time now and have never introduced myself!

My name is Caroline and I am from North Carolina. I taught Severe-Profound Self Contained K-5 Special Education for 6 years. In my time in the classroom, I discovered a big need for materials I couldn’t manage to find, which was when I started learning how to create materials myself. I also discovered my love for working with the visually impaired when my first student came to my class in kindergarten. She had several ocular diagnoses as well as Cerebral/Cortical Visual Impairment. I went ham learning the ins and outs of her diagnoses, as well as working closely with her TVI to learn the needs for adaptations. It was with this student I began making CVI Friendly materials. I ended up with 3 additional students with CVI during my time in the room.

In my 6th year of teaching I began grad school to earn my Masters in Education: Teaching Students with Visual Impairment. I’m currently in my second year of the program and first year working in the field as a Teacher of the Visually Impaired!

Even though I’m out of the classroom (my job is itinerant), I still create materials for my students to support their needs in their daily academics.
