Members of the Chorus, Theatre, and Technical Theatre departments recently traveled to the Big Apple to experience its iconic landmarks and attend two Broadway shows. Students stayed in Manhattan, just a few blocks from Times Square, placing them in the heart of the city’s energy.
Highlights of the trip included visits to the Museum of Broadway, Trinity Church, the 9/11 Memorial, and Wall Street, where students saw the famous Charging Bull. The group also toured Radio City Music Hall and enjoyed excellent seats at the Broadway musicals MJ and Ragtime.
A standout aspect of the trip was the opportunity to participate in two workshops with working Broadway actors. In the first, students engaged with a member of the Ragtime cast, currently performing at the Vivian Beaumont Theater at Lincoln Center. They learned about the actor’s journey—from early inspiration and training to achieving success on Broadway. In the second workshop, students learned a song and dance from Ragtime with another performer. Both actors were warm, engaging, and deeply invested in working with our students.
For some students, this was their first visit to New York City; for others, it was their first time attending a Broadway show. In every case, they represented MHS with pride—demonstrating kindness, engagement, and a genuine appreciation for the experience.

The Theatre and Choir departments collaborate to offer this trip every two years. Make plans now to join us in 2028!

What's the Band been up to, you ask? Last week, the Millbrook Ensembles participated in: Panther Creek's Winter Guard competition / 2 Music Performance Adjudications (Tuesday and Wednesday) / long rehearsals for the musical / the jazz band played for the Superintendent's State of Schools Address and played in the musical 3 nights in row / and the Winter Percussion competed at Green Level High School Saturday morning.

We are so proud of you all for your determination and precision with your talents! Go, Band!

We are excited to share that our JROTC Army Battalion got the Unit of Distinction Award (Star to wear on uniforms), and passed their recent, external inspection with a very impressive 96%. Not many programs get this honor, so LTC Pickett, Sgt. Colon, and I are extremely proud of our cadets.

The inspection covered 7 areas:
Continuous Process Improvement Brief
Service Learning Brief
Unit Report
Cadet Interviews
Platoon Drill
Color Guard
Instructor Portfolio

Out of 170 total points, we earned 164.

Each year, just when we think the outgoing seniors might leave a void behind them, we find that we still have a strong group. Iron sharpens iron! Way to go, MHS Battalion.

Congratulations to the sensational Mr. Darius Anthony, our Dance Director, for this state honor! Mr. Anthony runs active and highly engaging dance classes during the instructional day, while also supporting our National Championship Dance team with their routines and skills. He is a joy to have on our faculty as he brightens our days with his smile, with his energy, and with his infectious laugh.

Represent, Mr. A!

11th grader Lisa Jean Foley became a STATE CHAMPION earlier this morning at 12:15am (yes, after midnight on Friday night!), wrestling within the 120 lb weight class for our 8A NCHSAA classification. As expected in a state championship match, she had to fight hard, but she pinned her opponent for the win! (She also claimed her 100th career win the night before, during the opening rounds of the tournament.)

Millbrook had six team members place, overall, with two as state runner-ups, and the team finished the tournament as the 3rd place team in 8A! In only its 2nd official season of existence, these accomplishments cannot be celebrated enough! Thank you to our coaches, including Millbrook Legend, Scott Saby, as well as the parents of these student-athletes.
Sophia Gould - 2nd
Isla Daniels - 2nd
Mackenzie Sivulka - 3rd
Ella Friedman - 4th
MaryJane Deen - 4th
