Has anyone heard about the play I Too Am Harvard by Kimiko Matsuda-Lawrence? It brings up some interesting debates and raises some interesting questions regarding cultural competency and discrimination in higher education.

Homecoming Week 2012. Shaw U. We are number one...yall know the rest!
I apologize for the late post Shaw U Family. Just remember to take a moment to think about a day that changed the course of our nation's history forever. Where were you on this day 11 years ago? Did you know anyone who lost their life on that day? Did you grow up in the area as a child? Of all these questions...the most important ones are, Have we grown as a nation and have we learned to appreciate life for the gift that it is?
Our hearts go out to the family of the young woman who lost her life at Cameron Village today. Keeping her loved ones lifted in prayer.
September is Prostate Cancer Awareness Month. Rock your blue ribbons with pride.
So, I recently heard that DC Comics will be premiering a Green Lantern as homosexual. What are your thoughts on this issue? Is this a step in the right direction for equal rights for the LBGT community? Or, is this an attempt to mainstream homosexuality for those who are more susceptible to changing their position on LGBT equality?
ConGRADSulations Shaw University Class of 2012!!! You have all worked hard and deserve to enjoy your achievement.
Happy International Women's Day everyone. What are your thoughts about the progression of women throughout the life course and history?
02/03/2012
This picture came across my timeline. I wanted to get your thoughts on it. Since it's Black History Month how would we as African-Americans react to this display? Is this a well-intentioned attempt to celebrate the contributions of African-Americans and stimulate learning through public display? Or is this a culturally insensitive display that spits in the face African-Americans' heritage? Or was this a simple, ironic oversight? As social workers what would be our role in terms of advocating for changes, education, and promoting cultural competence?
