In the early days, Head Start launched “Home Start,” a groundbreaking project that brought the full range of services directly into families’ homes. The idea was simple yet visionary: parents are a child’s first and most important teacher, and meaningful support should come to them.
Today, that legacy continues through Telamon North Carolina with our dedicated Home Visiting teams serving Wake and Sampson Home‑Based programs. Your commitment, compassion, and partnership with families make a lasting difference every single day.

Marbles Kids Museum's partnership with Telamon Head Start exemplifies a powerful collaboration that fosters early childhood development and strengthens family bonds. By providing free play opportunities and dedicated spaces for Wake Home-Based families to gather, Marbles offers a welcoming environment where children can engage in hands-on learning and exploration. This initiative not only supports school readiness but also nurtures social and emotional growth, ensuring that every child has the foundation for a bright future. Through such partnerships, Marbles continues to demonstrate its commitment to making quality educational experiences accessible to all families in the community.

Ede embarked on her journey to support children and families in 2016, driven by a deep passion for community enrichment. In 2021, she joined Telamon, where she dedicated her skills to empowering families in need. At Southeast Head Start, Ede serves as the initial point of contact for families, warmly welcoming them into the program with open arms. Her professionalism, coupled with a genuine warmth, lays the groundwork for strong, trusting relationships with each family. Ede is committed to understanding their unique needs and proactively provides valuable resources and support to help them thrive.

Celebrating 60 Years of Impact and Empowerment!
Today marks a special milestone for Telamon | TRC as we celebrate 60 years of service to our community! Founded in 1965 as "The Migrant Project" by the North Carolina Council of Churches, our journey began with a powerful mission to support migrant farm workers. Thanks to a pivotal grant that was awarded 60 years ago today and the unwavering dedication by employees in those early years, our work expanded over time to encompass multiple states and focus areas. Today, we stand as a testament to the enduring power of our mission that began six decades ago.

Our mission remains the same: to disrupt the cycle of poverty by empowering families to overcome barriers to success. Whether through education, career skills, financial management, or housing support, our commitment to providing pathways to self-sufficiency is stronger than ever.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the years. We're excited to continue this journey with you and create lasting change for future generations. Here's to the next 60 years of making a difference!

Chyna Russell, Andrea Zavala-Cervantes, and Nidia Jaen are the amazing Family Service team from Crosby Head Start. This team of professionals do an amazing job supporting families day in and day out at Crosby. They work together as a team to collaborate to ensure that our children and families are provided any support they may need. These ladies are passionate about the work they do and supporting families achieve every goal they set. They have built community relationships and brought wonderful resources to the families at Crosby Head Start. Not only do they support the children and families at Crosby, but they support the education staff as well. They are always willing to step in and support in classrooms to ensure that our teachers feel supported as well. We are proud of the work they are doing and appreciate each one of them.
