During week 4 of the fall program, students used the skills they learned to create a plane or bridge for the Day 5 competition. They worked in groups of two to design, troubleshoot, and test their creations in preparation for the final day.

Students illuminated the science of light by using mirrors to experiment with light reflection and refraction. They learned how to manipulate the light source and mirrors so the light reached a desired point. Then, they designed a catapult to launch a ball at different distances. They learned how the type of ball and different angles affect how well the catapult works.

Our students discovered science isn’t just in books, but it is in experiments and everyday life! They investigated the chemical properties of household products with chromatography and a pH test.

The students learned the dynamics of flight (thrust, gravity, drag, and uplift) by designing two distinct paper gliders. Each group then competed for the furthest distance travelled, accuracy to a predetermined target, precision to a straight flight path, and maximum hoverability.

The fall session was packed with investigation, discovery, and teamwork! Students stepped into the shoes of forensic scientists as they tested mystery substances, compared samples, and cracked secret messages using ciphers like Morse Code, Atbash, Porta, and Aristocrat.

Throwback to our first session for the Fall 2025 program. Our students learned the principles of bridge and tower design through hands-on building exercises. They competed for the highest free-standing tower and the strongest bridge.

This is what Imhotep Academy is all about.
Connor participated in several Imhotep Academy sessions, including our Intro to Science Olympiad workshop last fall. That early exposure helped build confidence, spark curiosity, and open the door to competitive STEM spaces.
Now, Connor and a teammate placed 4th in Water Quality at a recent Science Olympiad competition—an event filled with experienced teams from highly competitive schools.
Watching students grow, take risks, and step into new opportunities is why we do this work. CONGRATULATIONS CONNOR!
P.S. Summer Session registration is coming soon. We hope to see you there.
