Protect the Pack: Self-Reporting 01/23/2021

Dear students, We cannot express strongly enough how important it is that you practice safe behavior during the COVID pandemic! This means no NON-ESSENTIAL travel, and no parties. You were asked to quarantine for 10 days upon your arrival to Raleigh. You have a responsibility to keep the community safe!
Please follow the COVID guidelines AND the current city wide regulations. No gatherings of more than 10 people and curfew from 10 PM to 5 AM.
If you tested positive for COVID - self report (SKEMA and NCSU), self- isolate, contact the people you encountered, and inform your residence!
You should go into isolation. Isolation means staying indoors, away from people, using a separate bedroom and bathroom if possible, cleaning up after using dishes, etc.
While there we recommend that you watch for symptoms: fever, shortness of breath/cough, unexplained tiredness, loss of smell or taste. If you feel badly and don't feel like you can stay there, seek health care. You can take aspirin or acetaminophen (Tylenol) for the fever.
You should self-report at https://www.ncsu.edu/coronavirus/self-reporting/ and we will follow you for symptoms, see if you need anything and to do contact tracing to see if anyone close to you is ill.
Your isolation is for at least 10 days from the day you were tested or onset of symptoms if they started before you were tested, provided you are fever free for 24 hours and any symptoms are improving.
You should contact your instructors about any absences.
A person with a positive test may stay positive for 45 days or longer but is probably not susceptible for 90 days from the positive test. We do not recommend re-testing for 90 days. As far as uploading (if this is a question) you should just upload your positive results after your isolation (at day 11) and we will validate the results. You can return to campus after the completion of the 10 days of isolation

Protect the Pack: Self-Reporting If you've tested positive, here's what to do.

As we grow closer to the holiday season and the end of the semester, I and the Student Office want to wish you a happy and SAFE break. We highly recommend that international students who have plans to travel internationally carefully reconsider their travel due to the skyrocketing numbers of COVID cases in the US and abroad.

While we understand that many of you are eager to reconnect with family and friends as you would in any other year during the holiday season, we ask that you take into account the possibility of travel delay and restrictions, quarantines or prolonged self-isolation requirements when entering or transiting through other cities/countries based on their local guidance’s for COVID-19.
F-1 and J-1 NIE visa holders are subject to the CBP officer’s decision at US ports of entry and there have been cases where some students were denied re-entry. Students should contact their embassy directly to confirm the visa procedure for valid visa holders.

If you do choose to travel, please be safe and take the necessary precautions to remain healthy.

The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) a travel information website related to COVID-19, and specifically recommends avoiding all nonessential travel to countries at Warning Level 3. Please note that these ratings can change rapidly and without warning.
Airlines have been offering to waive their change or cancellation fees in an effort to curb non-essential travel to places which may be deemed high risk. Please contact your travel agent or respective airlines for your options. If you have travel insurance, you should closely review your plan to assure it does not exclude pandemics in the case of need for medical evacuation.
Should you choose to travel outside the U.S., please make sure you have the following before leaving Raleigh:

1. a valid travel signature on your I-20 or DS-2019,
2. a valid passport,
3. a valid F-1 or J-1 visa stamp.
4. an acceptance letter for spring
5. a letter attesting that a percentage of classes will be in-person
