NC State Apiculture Program

The BeeMORE program is underway again this year. The 2026 participants spent the morning collecting native bees at the arboretum and the afternoon learning about honey bees with David Tarpy and Hannah Levenson.

How do YOU deal with laying workers?

That is the research that Montgomery County Beekeepers Association (MD) is supporting in 2026. Through its Bee Impact Fund, MCBA is supporting Claudia Roller a rising researcher at North Carolina State University, who works in the prestigious David Tarpy Bee Lab. Several microbreeding participants from the Five County Beekeepers Association visited NCSU today. They dropped off their 5 queens to the queen clinic to be analyzed. Good work 5CBA!

Project GNBee (Ground-Nesting Bees), a research and conservation initiative based at Cornell University is asking for help in documenting as many nesting sites as possible.
