NC State CED METRC

Last week we had the pleasure of hosting high school participants from the STATE of Teaching Conference in our library space to choose picture books from our collection to read in elementary school classrooms!

They chose from classics like The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Curious George, and Monster At the End of This Book, and from more recent publications like We Are Water Protectors, Dragons Love Tacos, and Afikoman Where'd You Go. Afterwards we had a great time showing off some of our fun and educational robots and manipulatives we have available for checkout!

Wishing all of our graduates the biggest Congratulations on this momentous occasion! Next week, METRC will join STEM ed experts for the Building Engineers in K-5 Classrooms Conference. 🎫 It is FREE to attend and the event will be held at the McKimmon Center on May 4th.

During Techxploration, NC State College of Education students tinkered with METRC resources including Sphero Indi, LEGO science kits, Osmo and more! Beyond tinkering, they had a chance to see how these resources are integrated into various subject areas, looking at example lesson plans. 🚀 It's so fun to techxplore together!

🐝👩🏾‍🚀 METRC on the move! This month, Lauren and Laura visited a class to introduce and Penguinaut.

Students identified key details from the story. Then, they programmed Bee-Bot to follow the penguin's journey. We're passionate about equipping teachers and students to build skills in ways that are accessible and focused on core objectives for ALL content areas and age groups.

Are you coming to Techxploration today? Tinker with tech you could integrate into a K-5 lesson. Some of our favorite robots will be making an appearance - including Dash and Indi. A new addition to METRC, elementary LEGO science kits, will also be making their debut! 🧪🤖🍎
