šŸ’µ If the likelihood of House Bill 958 ultimately reaching the North Carolina Senate were a prop bet, then that’s where you’d want to put your money. Odds are the piece of legislation that would further erode access to the ballot box is going to make it out of the state House of Representatives and continue toward becoming law.

šŸŖ“ The flex for us is having slowed it down with collective public pressure that embarrassed the bill’s supporters. The heat we applied scared them. We made it plain that House Bill 958 would even hurt those who voted for the elected officials supporting the bill. So we’ll take that win and keep chipping away at authoritarianism.

šŸ”„ And about that heat: In the video here, there’s talk about how House Bill 958 would grant the state auditor latitude to audit any general election in North Carolina. Well, the fire we lit under their behinds is so hot there’s now a whole different piece of legislation — Senate Bill 1087; introduced Wednesday — dedicated to granting the state auditor the authority to give the democracy-defying legislators the power they want.

āœŠšŸ¾ We’ve got something for that, too.

Some partnerships just make sense.

When OUR people come together, something special happens.

Community. Culture. Collaboration. That’s what was all about.

A huge thank you to the ridiculously talented team over at for helping us bring this one of a kind experience to life as we celebrate 25 years of showing up for our people all across NC.

The food, the music, the conversations, the connections, and most importantly, the people made it a night to remember.

To everyone who pulled up, thank you. We’re still smiling šŸ–¤

OUR people know what it means to pray without ceasing. And when the Bible and Christianity get used to make it harder for Black people to elect the candidates they want in office, prayer alone isn’t enough — civic action has to come with it.

In this video, Pastor James Gailliard breaks down Christian nationalism: what it is, why it matters and why those in the Black church must exercise their faith through their work in and around the ballot box.

Drop a love offering by leaving your thoughts in the comments section. And ask Word Tabernacle Church about its BLOC initiative (Ballots Legislative Organizing Coalition) while you’re there. That’s where civic action starts.
