Congrats cohort 9!
Congratulations to the ninth cohort of workforce development professionals to graduate from the "Workforce Foundations" program through the NCWorks Training Center!
Workforce Foundations provides an orientation to workforce development and critical skill training for Workforce Innovation & Opportunity Act (WIOA) Title I and Title III career advisors. The training is provided in partnership with Dynamic Works Institute and includes three tiers: the "Workforce Rookie," the "5 Core Competencies," and the “Customer Encounter.”

The deadline to submit nominations for the 2026 Governor's Awards of Distinction is Thursday, May 14, 2026, at 5 p.m.
The various awards honor participants (students or jobseekers), workforce professionals who provide career services, employers, private-sector leaders and innovative partnerships. Note: each nomination must include a Letter of Support from their local Workforce Development Board.

Congratulations STAR X graduates!!!🤩
Congratulations to the tenth graduating class of “Successful Teams Achieve Results” (STAR), the leadership training program for managers and supervisors within the core NCWorks system!
STAR is a collaborative effort of the state’s local workforce development boards and the NCWorks Training Center. The program was again facilitated by trainer Kathy Stoddard Torrey. STAR is part of a system-wide focus on developing workforce leaders for today and tomorrow.

On Friday, Sept. 26th, team members gathered at Haywood Community College and completed the day long Mental Health First Aid Training offered through the NCWorks Training Center.
The training was well-attended, attracting participants from three different Workforce Development Board regions and staff that support 13 counties in Western North Carolina.
