Hosted by the NC State Department of Risk Assessment, this interactive training provides practical tools to identify, assess and share concerning behaviors that may signal a risk of violence. You’ll also learn real-life intervention strategies to help redirect individuals from a path toward harm.

Today marks Juneteenth, a day that commemorates the end of slavery in the United States.

On June 19, 1865, enslaved people in Galveston, Texas, learned of their freedom — more than two years after the Emancipation Proclamation was issued. Since that time, Juneteenth has become a day of celebration and remembrance in African American communities throughout the country.

Men’s mental health matters and conversations about it can save lives. Too many men continue to face mental health challenges in silence due to stigma, societal expectations and outdated ideas about what it means to be “masculine.” This June, in honor of Men’s Mental Health Awareness Month, we’re highlighting the importance of recognizing the signs of poor mental health and creating spaces where men feel supported in seeking help.

The National Threat Evaluation and Reporting (NTER) Program Office is now offering the Foundations of Targeted Violence Prevention eLearning course in Spanish! This training is designed to support community partners by providing essential knowledge and tools to help prevent targeted violence and keep communities safe. By expanding access to Spanish-speaking audiences, NTER is strengthening their collective prevention efforts to build safer, more resilient communities.

Pride Month is a time to celebrate the LGBTQ+ community, but also to recognize the reality that LGBTQ+ individuals continue to be disproportionately impacted by targeted violence and hate. Behind these statistics are real people, communities, and lives forever changed. Creating safer spaces begins with valuing one another, showing up for our community and refusing to stay silent in the face of harm. This month, we honor those we’ve lost, stand with those affected by violence, and recommit ourselves to protecting and supporting the LGBTQ+ community every day.

🚨June training opportunity! Join us virtually for Understanding Workplace/Campus Violence Prevention and Your Role, a three-hour program aimed at preventing targeted violence in our communities. For managers and leaders at the university, this training is required every two years, so don’t wait to sign up!

Hosted by the NC State Department of Risk Assessment, this training provides facts about workplace violence, explains warning signs and triggering events, and shares how to best refer concerning behaviors to our department. Participants will also gain an understanding of what constitutes violent behavior and their mandatory reporting responsibilities.
