Things have slowed down for the summer. If you are worried about your student forgetting everything over the summer, schedule atleast 30 min every other week to keep their skills fresh.
Summer is also a great time to start working on ACT or SAT prep before things get too busy during the school year. The more time your student invests in doing practice problems, the better prepared they will be. I recommend starting by 9th or 10th grade and taking it a minimum of 2 or 3 times by senior year.
Message me to get the link for my online scheduler.

I've had so many students lately that I'm almost at the point of needing a waitlist. I've worked the past two Sundays just trying to keep up. I'm ready for a long weekend. I work hard to stay flexible and do everything I can to help students succeed.

The SAT is ditching paper and going digital. The test will be adaptive to student's previous answers, have fewer questions but longer time per question, and have a built in graphing calculator for the math section (no calc inactive section). The test is expected to take 2 hours instead of 3 to lessen testing fatigue. Current high school freshman are slated to be the first to test it out!
"Per yesterday's announcement, the rollout begins in the spring of 2023 when all international students will shift from paper to digital testing. In the fall of 2023, all PSAT administrations will be in digital form. In the spring of 2024, all SATs and PSATs will be digitally administered."
The Arrival of the Digital, Adaptive SAT
The Arrival of the Digital, Adaptive SAT ushers in a new era of testing By: Jed Applerouth, PhD. Yesterday the College Board announced that starting with the class of 2025 (current high school freshmen), test-takers will exclusively take a shorter, digital, adaptive SAT. By the spring of 2024, all S...

Some of my parents are concerned about online tutoring vs in person. Here's my honest opinion: If the student has the proper equipment, then the only difference is that it's more difficult to see what the student is writing.
The Pros: It's more convenient for parents, as it eliminates driving time and makes distance a non-issue. The students and I are generally more focused with less distractions from other family members, because we are locked away in a private space. I can write on anything on screen, which helps students clearly see what I'm doing. I can also pull up supplemental resources quickly and write on them too. Students are also able to write on screen in most cases, and that will be even easier if they have a writing pad and stylus. Students can feel comfortable in their own space and can even have their camera off if it doesn't become an impediment.
The Cons: I can't easily see what (or if) the student is writing, but it's not impossible to do. I have them hold up the paper to the camera if I feel it's needed. There can potentially be technical issues, but those are either temporary or we can find a work around.
Here's the ideal equipment for tutoring via Zoom: a laptop or desktop that is not a Chromebook with a video camera, a graphing calculator (TI 83 or 84), pencil and paper, and a writing pad with stylus like Waucom (optional).
