🌿 From ā€œI don’t knowā€¦ā€ to ā€œOhhh, okay!ā€

That little shift is one of my favorite things to witness. šŸ’š

In this video, you can actually see her confidence growing as she works through a multi-step word problem. She starts a little confused and overwhelmed—and then, one step at a time, things begin to click.

Multi-step word problems are HARD. They don’t always announce themselves as multi-step. Students have to determine what information matters, recognize what the problem is asking, decide which operation comes first, and figure out what to do next.

That requires a great deal of critical thinking, not just computation.

And here’s something we believe deeply at 🌿 The Learning Garden:

Math is simply finding the pattern.

That’s why some of our earliest ā€œmathā€ experiences are matching, sorting, sequencing, and creating patterns. Those preschool activities aren’t just cute—they’re laying the groundwork for mathematical reasoning.

And we don’t stop building that foundation just because children get older.

We continue strengthening those same thinking processes through developmentally appropriate games, movement, manipulatives, conversation, and problem-solving. So when students eventually reach the abstract side of math—good ole pencil, paper, and critical thinking—they have something solid to stand on.

We recognize the gaps that can happen in education, and we meet our students right there.

One pattern.
One connection.
One step at a time. 🌱

Until ā€œI don’t know what to doā€ becomes ā€œOhhh… I know what comes next.ā€

That’s the growth we’re after. šŸ’š

🌿 The secret sauce? Follow the child.

Every session at The Learning Garden looks a little different—because every child who walks through our doors arrives a little different.

Students come to us after full days at school, carrying different energy levels, experiences, emotions, and needs. My job isn’t to make a child feel a certain way before learning can begin.

My job is to meet them where they are, align with them, and create the conditions that support realignment.

Watch closely in this video. šŸ‘€

This student moves from the chair…
to the hammock…
to the rocking chair, where he pauses to gaze out the window…
then back to another chair, where he discovers some fidgets.

And through ALL of that movement?

He’s learning.🌱

He’s spelling challenging words with prefixes and suffixes. I’m sprinkling in questions to keep his brain engaged. He’s thinking, moving, regulating, responding, and working—all at the same time.

At The Learning Garden, movement around the room isn’t something we automatically discourage. Sometimes movement is part of how a child accesses the learning.

And when children know they don’t have to perform stillness, happiness, enthusiasm, or ā€œgood behaviorā€ to be welcomed into the learning space, something beautiful happens:

They begin to settle into themselves.

That’s not something we force.

It’s often the natural response of a child who feels safe, seen, and supported. šŸ’š

🌱 At The Learning Garden, we don’t just teach children what to learn—we teach them how to learn.

This was one of our first sessions of the new school year, so before diving into academics, we started with a game!

In true Montessori fashion, I used the opportunity to model the learning process. As we played, you’ll see me intentionally demonstrate:

šŸ‘‚šŸ½Active listening — slowing down enough to truly hear and process new information
šŸ™‹šŸ½ā€ā™€ļø Question asking— showing that strong learners don’t have to know everything; they know how to seek clarity
🧠 Memory strategies— practicing tools that help us retrieve information from long-term memory and bring it into working memory when we need it
šŸŽ² Learning through play— because joy, connection, and engagement create beautiful conditions for learning

And here’s one of my favorite parts: I’m willing to be the learner, too! 🄰

When an educator models curiosity, mistakes, questions, and problem-solving, we give children permission to approach something unfamiliar without the pressure of already being good at it.

At The Learning Garden, we’re growing more than academic skills. We’re growing confident, curious learners who know what to do when they don’t know yet.šŸŒ±šŸ’›

Parents, I’ve been thinking of you…

What if your child’s tutoring session became your favorite hour of the week?

As parents, we’re constantly pouring into everyone else. We answer emails from the parking lot, take work calls in the car, rush from one activity to the next, or simply wish for a quiet moment to breathe.

When I began dreaming about 🌿The Learning Garden,

I wasn’t only thinking about children.

I was thinking about you.

Imagine dropping your child off for personalized tutoring while you settle into a peaceful workspace with Wi-Fi, a cup of coffee, and a comfortable place to work, read, or simply enjoy a moment of stillness.

No rushing across town.
No waiting in the car.
Just a space where your whole family feels cared for. ā¤ļø

Five years ago, this was just a dream.

Today, that dream has a home.

After five years of serving incredible families, learning alongside amazing children, and believing that every child deserves to feel seen, safe, and capable, I’m so excited to share that our new website is officially LIVE!

The Learning Garden has been growing quietly in my heart for a long time. It’s more than tutoring—it’s a place where curiosity is celebrated, confidence is nurtured, and every child belongs.

This journey has been built one student, one family, one lesson, and one act of faith at a time. It certainly hasn’t happened alone. To my family, who celebrated this moment with me today and has supported every late night, big idea, and impossible dream—thank you. I could not have done this without my incredible support system. I love you so much. ā¤ļøā¤ļøā¤ļø Truly, this is for you.

As we celebrate five years, I’m filled with gratitude and even more excited for what’s next. There is still so much to build, so many children to encourage, and so much wonder to cultivate.

Here’s to the next chapter. 🌻
Thank you for believing in this dream.

Taking off my tutoring hat and putting on my favorite one... Mom. šŸ’•

This weekend wasn’t about test scores, lesson plans, or learning objectives.

It was about saying ā€œyesā€ to connection.

We spent the day doing something our family loves—soccer. We laughed, cheered, soaked up the sunshine, and made memories that will last far longer than any worksheet ever could.

Then came the sweetest surprise.

Trinity Rodman…

She could have simply smiled, signed an autograph, and kept walking. Instead, she chose to stop, laugh with Khaliyah, record a TikTok together, and make my girl feel seen.

That kind of generosity leaves an imprint. Thank you, Trinity, for reminding us that greatness and kindness belong together. ā¤ļø

But can I tell you my favorite part?

Watching Khaliyah confidently tell Trinity Rodman how the TikTok should go. šŸ˜‚

No hesitation.
Just a young woman who knows her ideas matter.

As I stood there watching, I thought, This is the work.

Yes, I spend my days helping students build confidence in reading, math, music, and learning.

But before I’m an educator...
I’m a mom.

Raising children who trust their voices, believe in their abilities, and aren’t afraid to take up space—even standing beside someone they admire. That’s golden!

So here’s a gentle reminder:

Go kick the soccer ball.
Go take the hike.
Go play.
Go laugh.
Be fully present.

Because sometimes the greatest investment we can make in our children isn’t another activity...

It’s simply giving them us.

And if we’re intentional, we’ll discover that the confidence we hope they’ll carry into the classroom... is often first built in moments like these. šŸ¤āš½

07/14/2026

These are the moments in teaching that remind me exactly why I do this. 🌿⚽✨

Today, math wasn’t something we sat down to get through—it was something we lived.

We played Mental Math Soccer: rapid-fire addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division while passing the ball back and forth. Every kick came with a new problem to solve. Every correct answer was met with cheers, laughter, high-fives, and another chance to shine.

When a math fact wasn’t quite sticking, we didn’t stop the joy. We simply picked up the ball and juggled while repeating the fact aloud until it felt natural. Movement. Voice. Repetition. Play.

This is EMBODIED LEARNING.

When children move, speak, laugh, and experience success with their whole bodies, learning becomes something they feel, not just something they memorize.

Retention grows. Confidence grows. And perhaps most importantly... they begin to believe that they are capable.

I want my students to remember that learning feels like sunshine, fresh air, encouragement, and someone celebrating every victory alongside them. 🌼

Because confident learners don’t just solve math problems...
They begin believing they can solve hard things.

āš½šŸ’› High fives, happy hearts, and another beautiful day of learning outside.

šŸ“šāœØ It’s NOT too late to finish strong.

As the school year winds down, many students start to feel overwhelmed, discouraged… or just checked out. But here’s the truth:

There’s still time to turn things around šŸ’ŖšŸ½

If your child needs support in Math or ELA, I’m here to help them rebuild confidence, strengthen skills, and walk into the end of the year feeling PROUD of their progress.

My approach isn’t one-size-fits-all šŸ‘‡šŸ½
šŸŽÆ Engaging, student-centered lessons
šŸŽ² Game-based learning that keeps kids motivated
šŸ† Prize-driven incentives that celebrate effort and growth
šŸ’› A safe, encouraging space where students feel seen, supported, and capable

Because success isn’t about ā€œtrying harderā€ā€”
It’s about being taught in a way that actually connects.

Every child can thrive when we understand how they learn and create an environment where they feel safe to take risks and grow.

Let’s finish this school year STRONG together šŸ“ˆāœØ

Watching confidence grow in real time is one of my favorite parts of this work šŸ’«

Today’s lesson? Quadrants and coordinates—specifically plotting points like (-2, 4).

At first, it felt tricky… unfamiliar… a little overwhelming.
But with step-by-step guidance, patience, and practice, something shifted.

By the end of our session, I asked:
ā€œOn a scale of 1–10, how confident do you feel now?ā€
Her answer? 8 šŸ™ŒšŸ¾

That’s what it’s all about.
Not perfection—progress, confidence, and belief.

✨ Building Confident Readers — One Line at a Time ✨

When early readers learn to gently slide their finger down the line, something powerful happens.

They begin to track smoothly, strengthen focus, and read in meaningful phrases instead of stopping word-by-word. That simple strategy builds fluency, comprehension, and — most importantly — confidence.
Because confident readers become confident learners.
And there is nothing outside of your child’s reach when they are willing to learn.

šŸ“š At Flowers Education Consulting Services, we focus on skill, strategy, and self-belief.

✨ Empowered through literacy.

šŸ’› Growing readers who know they can.
