A glance at some exercises students presented during the first hands on submissions for one of the Art 121 classes. These are single day exercises to experiment with line to generate compositions. Some of the examples shown were made with tools or templates to generate lines, whereas a few were freehand explorations of line.

Want to see some more student work? Today’s student feature is Amanda Bass , who is currently in Jj Love’s 2D design class. Gotta give the students huge props for their hard work this unusual semester but it doesn’t appear to be hindering their ability to create really fabulous artwork. Great Job Amanda!

This is a painting by Nicholas June, a current painting student in the online Art 240 class. We are so thrilled to see how well our students are doing with the online learning. It isn’t how many of them envisioned growing their artistic skills but they are doing some amazing work. Registration for spring semester is right around the corner. Are you joining us for classes? Mixed media experiments will be happening soon for painting I students. This is first layer on a few demo pieces where students will experiment with collage, textural painting, masking, stencils and varied approaches to building a painting. We focus a good bit on observational painting but threading in some other expressive approaches is always useful to help students work towards their own expressive language.
