Tomorrow, March 26, is NC State University Day of Giving! Support future agribusiness leaders and research in ARE by participating in the all-day giving and social media challenges!

Yesterday, ABM students had the opportunity to hear from NC Commissioner of Agriculture Steve Troxler as a part of the ARE Talks Series, sponsored by the Office of Student Mentoring. Troxler spoke to students about important issues in NC agriculture today, including the aftermath of Hurricane Helene in Western NC.

Two new studies by ARE Assistant Professor Alejandro Gutierrez-Li are shedding light on that question, delving into the impact of labor automation on farmers and whether they find value in investing in automated technologies.⁠

“Contrary to popular belief, mechanization or robotization is not necessarily a seamless linear process. There are pros and cons,” Gutierrez-Li said.⁠
