When parents and schools stop talking AT each other—and start talking WITH each other, children win.

In this powerful conversation, Youness El Fehdi sits down with Angela Kelly to discuss one of the most important challenges facing families of children with disabilities:

How do we bridge the gap between parents and school administrators?

It starts with listening.
It starts with empathy.
And it starts with remembering that everyone is ultimately fighting for the same child.

Parents bring invaluable knowledge about their children. Educators and administrators bring professional expertise. When those two perspectives come together instead of competing, we can create stronger partnerships—and better outcomes for kids.

She tattooed a keyboard on her arm so her nonverbal autistic son would always have a way to communicate with her.

Canadian mom Jessica Fletcher got the idea after her 11-year-old son, Hunter, was left without his usual communication device when his tablet battery died at a restaurant.

Unable to use the tablet, Hunter drew a keyboard on paper and began pointing to letters to spell out what he wanted.

That moment gave Jessica an idea: make the backup permanent.

She had a full QWERTY keyboard tattooed on her forearm, giving Hunter something he can tap and spell on whenever his tablet is unavailable.

Whether they are at the pool, a concert, or somewhere electronics cannot be used, his mom’s arm can now become his voice.

A video of Hunter using the tattoo to spell “splash pad” went viral, touching millions of viewers.

For Jessica, it was more than a tattoo. It was one more way to make sure her son is always heard.
