Today, Roosevelt Elementary halls were a sea of pink as we celebrated Pink Shirt Day!

Our students, teachers, and staff wore their brightest pink shirts to stand together against bullying, spread a powerful message of inclusion, and make a real difference in our community.

We are especially proud of our incredible teachers and staff, who went above and beyond by raising money for Sloan Kettering to support cancer research and patient care!

Mystery Readers Unveiled! Roosevelt Elementary Preschoolers Discover the Joy of Reading

Roosevelt Elementary’s preschool classes just wrapped up an incredible two-week "Mystery Reader" program, featuring surprise visits from district leaders, school staff, and even a grand finale with Mayor Giacobbe!

Beyond the excitement of the daily reveal, these interactive story times helped our youngest learners build foundational early literacy skills and strong social-emotional connections with community leaders.

We loved the community's enthusiasm so much that we're already planning to expand the program later this year to feature older student role models! 📚✨

Roosevelt Elementary School First Graders Celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month Through Cultural Exploration and Personal Connection

First-grade students at Roosevelt Elementary School recently concluded a vibrant celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month led by teachers Ms. Caraballo, Ms. Alvarez, Ms. Castro, and Ms. Marchica, featuring interactive "passport book" explorations of countries like the Dominican Republic, Argentina, and Peru, alongside a name-origin project inspired by Juana Martinez-Neal's book Alma and How She Got Her Name that helped young learners connect with their peers and celebrate global diversity.
