I am excited to announce that I will be moving to Las Vegas at the end of July after 15 years as an administrator and teacher here in North Carolina. I have enjoyed my time at J.W. Turlington Alternative School and wish all of my students the best as they continue to work toward their goals!

Thanks to our after school AYPEN Art Club participants who've been staying to work on this mural in honor of Senior student Austin Oxendine who tragically died in a car accident with his mom and dad last winter. We miss him; I think he would have loved that they have honored him in this way!

Who takes a final exam with a ruler, glue stick, scissors plus the usual pencils and eraser? My high schoolers...fun stuff - the comprehensive final exam is worth 25% of each high school student's final course grade in art per NC State Law. I teach all four levels of high school art in a combined class period J.W. Turlington Alternative School. We also had Art History last fall.
