Fall weather + campfire + s'mores = A pretty great classroom

RCPT 317 Adventure Programming students recently spent a night camping at Selu Conservancy, where they practiced outdoor cooking, built community around the campfire, and learned the importance of Leave No Trace and fire safety by making sure every fire was completely out before leaving camp. Adventure starts here!

Five days. Countless challenges. One incredible accomplishment.

Students in our RCPT 320 Introduction to Aerial Adventure Environments course recently completed an intensive training designed to develop the technical, safety, leadership, and facilitation skills needed for challenge course programming.

Even better? Every participant passed the training and is now RU ABLE Level 1 Challenge Course Certified!

Congratulations to our newest cohort of challenge course facilitators!

Sarah Shuler '23 received the inaugural CEHD Rising Impact Award in 2025. 🏆 Hear how this recognition has inspired Sarah to continue giving back to her community.

"Being selected for the Rising Impact Award from the College of Education and Human Development was a tremendous honor and a meaningful affirmation of the work I have been fortunate to do through 4-H Youth Development. Creating opportunities for young people to learn, lead, and grow while supporting families and communities through educational programs is work I am deeply passionate about. The award also represents the collective efforts of colleagues, volunteers, community partners, and youth whose dedication makes this impact possible. I am especially grateful that Radford University continues to support and encourage me long after graduation. Receiving this recognition inspired me to continue giving back to the region I call home and seeking new ways to make a positive impact through education, service, and youth development."
