McConnell Library's team of helpful staff and librarians support student and faculty research, scholarship, and the free and open exploration of ideas.

The mission of McConnell Library is to build strong relationships and advance learning with all members of the Radford University community. We will enhance services, collections, and spaces to invite and inspire learning, intellectual and artistic creativity, and the free and open exploration of ideas. We will foster collections, services, and programs that are reflective of a diversity of lived experiences.

This Saturday, July 4, 2026 from 12-4 the library foyer, bathrooms, and community room are open for folks who need a break from the heat! Grab bottled water, have a snack, and opt to stay for a movie if you’d like! Come in and enjoy air conditioning! We also have hand-held fans to give away thanks to Hoopla Digital! You can also bring a craft or project from home - some worked on their laptops and recharged their phones yesterday, and some drew and visited with their friends. Whatever you do, please stay cool and hydrate!

We are excited to announce that Radford University Libraries has a subscription to Inside Higher Ed.

Inside Higher Ed provides the latest news, analysis, and solutions for the entire higher education community. Its mission is to provide forward-looking insights and services to the higher education community, empowering individuals and organizations to excel and transform learners’ lives.

Authentication is based on IP address so access is seamless on campus or using the VPN and you can create an optional account using an institutional email address. On the top menu, you will see a checkmark and Institutional Access in green.

This subscription is made possible with help from VIVA, our library consortium.
