πβοΈ Camp GT is still traveling around the world!βοΈπ
Last week, our adventures took us all the way to Russia π·πΊ , and this week we packed our imaginary passports and headed down under to Australia! π¦πΊ
Our trip to Russia was extra special because we had a friend from Russia stop in and visit us!β€οΈ Our campers had the chance to ask all of their questions about what life is like in Russia, learn about Russian traditions and culture, and even practice some Russian words and phrases with a real Russian speaker! The kids were so curious and had some awesome questions. We also explored Russian landmarks, art, food, geography, and what everyday life can look like in another part of the world.
Then it was off to Australia! π¦π¨π This week we learned about some of Australia's most famous animals, including kangaroos, koalas, crocodiles, and animals found in the Great Barrier Reef. We explored the Outback, talked about the Great Barrier Reef and Sydney Opera House, learned about Australia's location on the globe, and discovered how its environment and wildlife are different from what we see here at home. Of course, we added plenty of hands-on art, STEM challenges, games, and creative projects along the way!
While having all this fun, our campers were also busy building important skills like fine-motor control, creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, communication, geography, cultural awareness, listening, asking thoughtful questions, following directions, and trying new things. π§ π¨π€
One of our favorite parts of traveling around the world this summer has been watching the kids realize just how BIG and interesting our world is. ππ Every country has given us something new to learn, create, taste, talk about, and explore!
