📚🐶 From the Book to the Big Screen! 🎬🍿

Our 3rd graders recently finished reading Because of Winn-Dixie! Today, we celebrated all of our hard work by watching the movie and comparing it to the book! What a fun way to wrap up our reading adventure and kick off Fall Break! 🧡🍂

We hope everyone has a wonderful, safe, and relaxing Fall Break! 🍁☀️

📚❤️💙 **GA READS Week: Reading, Rewards & LOTS of Smiles!** 🎉

At QES, we believe literacy is something worth CELEBRATING! 📖✨

During GA READS Week, our classes worked hard to complete their **Literacy Passports**, earning entries into a special prize drawing! And now comes the FUN part… delivering the prizes! 🎁

🎉 Some lucky classes earned **Pajama Day passes!**

🍬 Others received **candy-filled goody bags** for the entire class!

🍪 Some celebrated with **cookies and juice!**

🥤 And because our teachers deserve a little extra love, some were surprised with **their favorite drinks!**

❤️ **A HUGE thank-you to our QES teachers** for embracing GA READS Week, encouraging our young readers, and finding ways to make literacy meaningful, engaging, and FUN! Your enthusiasm helps build a school culture where reading is valued and celebrated.

🎃🔬 **Little Scientists, BIG Discoveries at QES!** 🌱📚

Mrs. Bray’s & Mrs. Dubose’s class, and Mrs. Matthews’s kindergarten class combined and had a wonderful time becoming PUMPKIN SCIENTISTS today!

Who says literacy and science can't grow together? 🌱

Our young scientists explored how pumpkins grow while building vocabulary, practicing phonics skills, asking questions, making predictions, and using their speaking and listening skills to share their thinking!

Today, we completed 3 of the 5 steps in our scientific investigation, and the learning isn't over!

🔍 **What's next?** Our scientists will continue their investigation by observing their planted pumpkin seeds and recording what they notice through drawings and writing in their very own scientific observation journals! 📝🌱

This is what meaningful, cross-curricular learning looks like—students using literacy skills to explore, question, communicate, and make sense of the world around them!

We can't wait to see what our little scientists discover as their pumpkins begin to grow! 🎃

🐛📏 Worm-tastic Measurement Fun! 📏🐛

Our 2nd grade mathematicians in Mrs. Hiers' class had a worm-tastic time practicing their measurement skills today!

Students used rulers to measure gummy worms, stretched them out, measured them again, and calculated the difference in length! 📏🐛

Who knew math could be so SWEET? 🍬

Hands-on learning, lots of smiles, and a little something sweet made for the perfect math lesson!

🌟 We're growing our math skills one inch at a time! 🌟

These two ladies work tirelessly behind the scenes—and right alongside our teachers—to support instruction, provide resources, analyze data, encourage growth, and help ensure our students receive the very best each day.

Their willingness to collaborate, problem-solve, encourage, and step in wherever needed makes a tremendous difference at QES. We appreciate the knowledge, energy, and heart they bring to our school family.

🧪✨ Our 5th graders explored chemical changes by making elephant toothpaste! They had a blast watching science come to life through this fun, foamy experiment! 🐘🫧

Congratulations to My’Khah Golden, the winner of our September PBIS Raffle. My’Khah is a first grade student in Mrs. Dela Cruz’s class. She works hard to show BCS pride by making positive choices and being a great example of our school expectations. My’Khah used her PBIS points to participate in our monthly raffle. My’Khah won a basket filled with school supplies, books, toys, and candy to enjoy! Congratulations My’Khah!
