Monday, October 20, 2026 will be a Parent-Teacher Conference Day at Quitman School District from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Parents and Guardians, please be aware that day is also an early release day for Quitman:
QJH - 1:00 p.m.
QUE & QHS - 1:10 p.m.
QLE - 1:10 p.m.
PreK will be released at 12:30 p.m.
K-2 parent pick-up will be 12:45 p.m.

HOMECOMING VICTORY FOR THE PANTHERS!

The Quitman Panthers gave the homecoming crowd plenty to cheer about Friday as they took on the Pisgah Dragons at Panther Field! The Panthers came out strong, taking a 21-10 lead going into halftime, kept the momentum rolling in the second half, and finished with a 28-16 HOMECOMING WIN! 🏈💛💙🏈

During halftime fans enjoyed the presentation of the QHS Homecoming Court and a performance of the Big Blue Crew's marching show!

Next up the Panthers hit the road Friday, October 16, to take on the Northeast Lauderdale Trojans! Game starts at 7:00 p.m.@ NE Lauderdale.

All Quitman School District schools will be on Fall Break from October 12 through October 16, 2026. School will resume Monday, October 19, 2026. That Monday will be Parent Conference day and will be a 66% day for students.

Roll out the royal blue carpet! Homecoming royalty took over Panther Field Thursday night! Lawsyn Bartee was crowned Homecoming Queen, and Ethan Nicholson was crowned King.👑

Panther Field was filled with Homecoming royalty 👑 Thursday night. Kings, queens, princes, and princesses from QLE, QUE, QJH, and QHS took the field dressed in their finest for Quitman's annual Homecoming on the Field celebration!

Families, friends, and community members filled the stands, cheering on our students as they were presented. It was a wonderful evening filled with smiles, applause, and cheering!💙💛🐾

From JROTC and the QHS Band to student organizations, clubs, athletic teams, homecoming maids and escorts, class floats, and reunion classes, everyone joined in the fun for our annual Homecoming Parade! Fans and families lined the streets of Quitman to cheer, wave, and enjoy the festivities as the parade made its way through town. What a great way to celebrate Homecoming week! 🐾💙💛

Due to the possibility of inclement weather, Friday's game time and Friday's school schedule for Quitman School District has been changed. Friday’s Homecoming Game Time has been changed to 3:00 p.m. Friday, October 9. Gates will open at 2:30 PM. There will be no pre-game show, and QLE Kittens will not perform. The QHS Homecoming Court will be presented during half time.

Friday’s school schedule has also been changed due to weather.

Dismissal times for Friday, October 9, 2026:

A New Chapter in Reading at QLE and QUE! 📚

This week, both Quitman Lower Elementary and Quitman Upper Elementary unveiled brand-new Book Nook Vending Machines! Located in the lobbies of both schools, these special vending machines are designed to encourage a love of reading while rewarding students for their hard work, academic success, and positive behavior!

📖 At QLE, students can earn coins through the PBIS program (positive behavior) and achieving academic success. Students use their earned coins to select a book of their very own from the Book Nook!

📖 At QUE, students can get coins by earning Accelerated Reader (AR) points, demonstrating exceptional behavior, and reaching academic goals. Students use their earned coins to get books from the Book Nook!

Dr. Dace thanked First Mississippi Credit Union, Crystal Clark, Cynthia Miller, and Diane Goldsmith for their critical support and donations in this Book Nook project.

Quitman School District believes that building strong readers starts with making reading exciting, rewarding, and accessible. Book Nooks are another way of encouraging our youngest Panthers to discover the joy of reading, one book at a time!
