There is so much more you can do with eggs than just following the steps on the back of a kit box. I hope the ideas below will inspire some creative Easter egg designs for you to make!

Basic Egg Dye

· 1/2 cup boiling water

· 1-teaspoon vinegar

· about 1/2-teaspoon food coloring

Dip one egg at a time into the mixture for a colorful Easter egg.

Natural Egg Dyes

A rule of thumb: Natural dyes require eggs soak for much longer times, sometimes as long as overnight. Remember the longer the egg is in the dye, the darker the color will be.

· Onion Skins- (red onions = lavender-dark red yellow onions = tan-gold) Boil the skins with the egg and then let soak.

· Pickled Beet Juice- (pink)

· Coffee-(brown) mix 1 tablespoon of instant coffee and ½ teaspoon of vinegar to 1 cup boiling water.

Glossy Easter Eggs

Mix sweet and condensed milk with food coloring and paint with brushes or Q-tips.

Swirly Eggs

Mix one tablespoon each of oil, vinegar, and your choice of food coloring. Add enough water to cover an egg. Swirl the liquid with a spoon, and quickly lower and raise an egg into it. Pat dry with a paper towel, and repeat with additional colors if desired.

Resist Eggs

Besides using crayons to form a resist or batik pattern, try using stickers of different shapes. Gummed reinforcement rings work well. Other patterns can be made using rubber bands and masking tape.

Drip Eggs

Place egg into an egg cup so that it is standing upright. Use a spray bottle to mist the top of the egg. Squeeze a drop of food coloring onto the top of the egg. Hold water bottle at a distance and mist the top again. Add additional colors if wanted. Mist or blow on the egg to create the desired effect.

Sponged Eggs

Paint a hard-boiled egg with acrylic craft paint and a brush. After the egg is dry, sponge white paint on the egg to create a fun pattern.

Chalkboard Paint Eggs

Paint a hard boiled egg chalkboard paint. When dry, allow children to decorate the eggs using different colors of chalk.

April 2nd is World Autism Awareness Day!

We have had so many babies in our care that are on the AU spectrum. The acceptance of children with neurodivergence is a priority we take very serious at our child care center.

We are constantly learning new ways to accommodate our kiddos. We have our very own Whitney Wetzel who specializes in helping special needs children. She brings a lot of knowledge to our team even when she is not here.

💡Boys are nearly 5 times more likely than girls to be diagnosed with ASD. Girls are often underdiagnosed with autism and misdiagnosed with other conditions.

💡Autism spectrum disorder is one of the fastest-growing developmental disorders in the United States. ASD is more common than childhood cancer, diabetes, and AIDS combined.

💡Autism spectrum disorder affects all nationalities, all creeds, all religions, all races and both sexes. It doesn’t differentiate or affect only one group.

💡Self-Advocacy is an important skill that is especially important for autistic individuals. In order to be a great self-advocate, people first must know what their strengths are as well as what accommodations serve them the best. With that knowledge, they can be their own best advocate with family, school, or community.

Did you know that we close at noon on the last Friday of every month?

Parents might wonder why, but this is the day we complete a monthly training! We also do some deep cleaning that we cannot get to during normal business hours.

This month our training was over Daily Transitions for Preschool. Our team brainstormed different ideas they could bring to their classroom.

What are you favorite things to add to your hot chocolate?

Hot chocolate,
Pour some milk into a pot. Stir it ‘till it’s nice and hot. Take the chocolate, give it a squeeze! Add marshmallows if you please! Wrap yourself up nice and snug. Drink hot chocolate in a mug.
