Old Tavern Kiln Collective

Old Tavern Kiln Collective An artist collective featuring potters using a wood fired kiln! Like our page to learn about firing dates, kiln opening sales, and other events at the farm

Old Tavern Kiln Collective is the fruition of six Richmond area potters who came together to build a wood fire kiln. Along the way, we made many new friends and created a magical fellowship. We welcome visiting potters who want to experience the beauty of clay touched by flame, heat and ash. Opportunities are available to purchase space, by the cubic foot, to fire your pots. You may participate at

two levels; "Student" or "Space Only". Student participants will learn and participate in all aspects of the firing process, to include: glazing, wading, and loading the kiln; firing the kiln and working several stoking shifts during the 60+ hour firing process; and unloading the fired wares. Class fee is $30/cubic foot of kiln space you require. "Space Only" participants may purchase one or more cubic feet of kiln space (based upon availability). The cost is $60.00/cubic foot. You are responsible for bringing your bisque fired, glazed ware to the farm, and wadding all of your pots. Approximately 2 weeks later, you return to pick up your beautiful fired pots! Whole kiln rental is also available to approved schools or groups. Contact us for min/max student requirements and availability. $2,500.00 + wood ($300-500)

How many pots fit in a cubic foot? Well, that depends on the size of your pots; 6-10 pieces of ware is typical for most potters. Let us know what you want to fire and we will be happy to work with you. Remember, all clay bodies and glazes must be cone 10+. Contact us by fb message or phone for details about upcoming firing dates and space availability! Thank you.

Hey Folks
We wanted to let everyone know that we are SOOOOO happy to welcome our newest faculty member to the ArtHaus Clay, the brand new pottery studio we have just opened in Midlothian/North Chesterfield. Richmond studio potter and artist Diana Cole will be teaching our first ever strictly hand-building class starting in late September. Diana and I were studio partners for 10 years and founding members of the 43rd Street Gallery and Studios in the late 80s and have been friends ever since. She is a great teacher and her clay work is exceptional. I encourage folks to check out her class and PLEASE pass the info on to your friends. We are thrilled to start this new chapter in our studio. Take a look and pass it on!
thanks
Lee
