Serving students across Plumas County, Plumas Charter School is known for providing a personalized learning approach, programmatic flexibility, and sincere attention to students’ individual needs. Individual student programs, from transitional kindergarten through 12th grade, are designed upon the enrollment of each student in the school’s learning centers in Quincy, Indian Valley, and Chester. The educational approaches used include center-based courses, traditional independent study courses, facilitated home school, concurrent college enrollment, a variety of enrichment activities, online curricula, and interest-based elective courses. As a nonprofit public charter school, PCS has created an arts-enriched, interdisciplinary learning environment aligned with state standards using a variety of curricula that nurture the intellectual, social, and creative growth of students; builds an inclusive community; and supports the academic achievement of its students. PCS operates under the core values of responsiveness, accountability, compassion, and respect—for ourselves, each other, and our environment. In the meantime, Quincy programs operate out of three centers: 535 Lawrence St. for grades 3–6, and 80 Main St. for grades 7–12. 🎓 IVA College & Career Planning: Important Dates

Fall is an important time for our high school students and families to start thinking about college, careers, testing, and financial aid!

📝 PSAT: Friday, October 16 at 8:30 AM in the IVA Library

💰 FAFSA: The FAFSA is expected to open to all families by October 1. Seniors and their families should begin gathering documents and familiarizing themselves with the financial aid process now. Missing deadlines can mean missing out on thousands of dollars in financial aid.

🎓 Career & College Night: Thursday, September 24 at 5:00 PM at IVA. Juniors, seniors, and their families are strongly encouraged to attend to learn about college applications, financial aid, scholarships, career pathways, and planning for life after high school.

📅 SAT testing: Seniors who need or want SAT scores for college applications should make sure they are registered for an upcoming test date. Juniors should also begin looking ahead to spring testing opportunities.

📌 Important SAT/PSAT dates and registration deadlines are included in the attached schedule.

📚 Homework Help Fridays at Quincy Learning Center!

Starting Friday, September 4, QLC will offer Homework Help every Friday from 10:00 AM–12:00 PM. Students in TK–6th grade and 7th–12th grade can receive in-person support with their Friday assignments in a group setting.

⚠️ Prior sign-up is required — no drop-ins. Please coordinate with your student’s teacher to sign up.

No Homework Help on the following dates (due to staff professional development or holidays):

• November 20 & 27
• December 18 & 26
• January 1
• February 19
• April 2

We hope all of our students and staff will be on hand for Picture Day! There will be no makeup dates, but students may attend Picture Day at another PCS site if needed.
