There is something about walking out of that last game and realizing a chapter just closed.
The gym gets quieter, but my heart gets loud. Loud with memories. Loud with pride. Loud with the knowing that it will never look exactly like this again.
This season flew by. The after school practices. The Suburban rides. The laughter in the commons. The hard days when we had to reset attitudes and choose to be better. The moments when you were tired, frustrated, unsureโฆ and then you did it anyway.
That is what I will remember most.
For some of you, this goodbye hits deeper. I have coached you since you were freshmen. Some of you tried out as eighth graders, nervous and wide eyed, and I remember thinking, there is something special here.
Kianna Acevedo.
Larissa Felix.
Trinity Gomez.
Emily Camacho.
I have watched you grow up right in front of me. Not just as cheerleaders, but as young women. Confident. Strong. Leaders. You left your mark on this program in a way that cannot be replaced. Your presence. Your energy. Your voices on the floor. The way you handled tough practices. The way you showed up when it mattered. The way you carried yourselves when things were hard.
That is legacy.
To my entire team, I could not be more proud. The growth in just a few short months was incredible. You pushed through long practices. You learned new skills. You found your voice and confidence. You supported each other. You represented our school with pride every single game.
You made me proud all season long.๐ซถ
Thank you for trusting me. Thank you for working. Thank you for laughing with me. Thank you for letting me challenge you. Thank you for being all in.
Cheer seasons come and go. The uniforms get put away. The poms go back in the closet. But what we build together stays. The bonds. The standard. The lessons. The belief in yourselves.
I get emotional because I care. This is never just a season to me. It is people. It is relationships. It is watching girls become leaders. It is having a front row seat to your growth.
To my seniors, I will miss you more than you know. To my returning girls, your time is coming. Step into it.
Once you are part of this program, you are always part of it.
Thank you for giving this season your whole heart. ๐๐- April Longwill
