WELCOME BACK, PIRATES! ⚓️

Today, the campus at George W. Munroe Elementary was alive and buzzing as we welcomed our Pirate Scholars back for the first day of a brand new academic year!

A special shout out to our community and district leaders who greeted our scholars with warm smiles and encouragement. We were also honored to welcome a special guest from WCTV, who featured our campus as the backdrop for the latest news and highlights from Gadsden County Schools!

It was a busy, productive, and exciting first day, and just the beginning of what promises to be an incredible year.

We are thrilled to share the incredible experience our very own Mrs. Gwendolyn Forehand had the opportunity to enjoy at the Florida Teacher of the Year Roundtable, hosted by the Florida Department of Education in The City Beautiful Orlando, Florida! 🌴✨

This unforgettable experience brought together County Teachers of the Year from across Florida, giving Mrs. Forehand the opportunity to connect with fellow educators, hear from experts in the field, and gain valuable insights and experiences to bring back to Gadsden County, and especially to our very own Pirate Community! 📚🎓

This is a wonderful opportunity for families to meet their scholar’s teacher, visit their classroom, and learn more about the exciting 2026–2027 academic year ahead.

Help us make a difference for local students!

Hardee's of Quincy, FL is hosting a Back-to-School Drive on Saturday, August 1st, beginning at 12:00 PM, and we're asking for your support.

We are currently accepting donations of:

- 🎒 Bookbags
- 🖍️ Crayons
- 🖊️ Markers
- ✏️ Pencils
- 📓 Notebooks
- 📁 Folders
- ✂️ Other school supplies

As a thank-you for your generosity, every donation will receive ONE FREE Famous Burger or ONE FREE Bacon, Egg & Cheese Biscuit!

The Florida Department of Education has released school grades for the 2025–2026 academic year, and we’re proud to share that George W. Munroe Elementary School earned a grade of C.

Even more exciting, we finished just several points shy of a B… a clear sign that our momentum is building.

We celebrate this achievement, but our work continues. This year, we’re moving the ship forward with our sights set on earning a B or higher.
