Nobody tells you this before you retire…
There are things:
• HR won’t explain
• Your union won’t break down
• And NYCERS won’t advise you on
But these decisions affect your income for LIFE.

Most people lose money in retirement before they even get their first check…
It’s not because they didn’t work hard.
It’s because they didn’t understand their options.
HR, your union, and NYCERS process paperwork… They don’t break down strategy.

In celebration of , today a congratulations goes to newly appointed Chief of Department Sherrieann Rembert.
In this role, Chief Rembert will supervise nearly 6,000 uniformed members of service in the Department of Correction, including Assistant Chiefs, Wardens, Deputy Wardens-in-Command, Deputy Wardens, Assistant Deputy Wardens, Captains and Correction Officers.
The Chief of Department also supports the Commissioner’s executive team by overseeing facility operations, including ensuring that the Department adheres to policies and procedures pertaining to the care of people in custody.
“Our uniformed staff are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our jails and are the foundation of this agency,” said Commissioner Stanley Richards. “As a valued leader in this Department, Chief Rembert’s experience and insight are second to none. I look forward to her guidance and expertise as we move this Department forward.”
“As someone who has served this Department and risen through its ranks, I have seen the best of what this agency can do,” said Chief of Department Rembert. “I look forward to our continued growth as a department and to implementing innovations that will set the standard for correctional excellence.”

🚨 NYC CORRECTION — PLEASE READ 🚨
After 20+ years of service, you deserve clarity — not confusion.
I retired as a NYC Corrections Captain, and I saw firsthand how overwhelming retirement can be.
Too many officers are:
• Signing paperwork they don’t fully understand
• Cashing out annuities and losing 20% to taxes
• Buying insurance policies thinking they are one thing — when they are another
• Moving their 457 without a real strategy
That didn’t sit right with me.
So I created EXIT PLAN™ — From Paychecks to Pension Checks.
This is not about selling a book.
It’s about protecting what you worked your entire career to earn.
Inside, I break down:
✔ Pension decisions
✔ Annuity and rollover options
✔ Insurance after retirement
✔ Tax considerations
✔ Mental transition after the job
The guide is available for a small donation to support the Raheesa Bush Helping Hand Foundation.
More importantly — I am offering Retirement Clarity Sessions for any NYC DOC member retiring within the next 24 months.
Before you sign anything.
Before you move anything.
Before you purchase anything.
Please make sure you understand it.
DM me “EXIT” if you or someone you love is retiring soon.
Let’s make sure you don’t retire blind.

Bridging the Gap — So You Understand Your WHY and Retire With Confidence
Recently retired or preparing to retire?
Before you sign anything, let’s sit down and review your:
• NYCERS Options
• Union Annuity
• 401(k)
• 457 Plan
• Life Insurance Options
These decisions are permanent.
You deserve to fully understand what you’re choosing.
For years, many of us were never shown how all of this truly works. No one breaks it down. No one explains the long-term impact.
That’s why I do.
As a Retired Captain, I’ve been through the process myself. I understand the system, the paperwork, and the emotions that come with closing one chapter and starting another.
You are not alone.
Let’s face it together.
My mission is simple:
To help you make informed, confident financial decisions — so you can retire with clarity, security, and abundance.

A NOTE TO MY RETIRED COLLEAGUES
Now that you’ve retired, you may be encouraged to leave your retirement money with your old company, or they may refer you to “their” advisor. Before you sign anything, pause and make sure you understand all your options—because this decision matters.
During our working years, many of us received little to no financial education. Now, after retirement, guidance suddenly appears. Imagine how different things might look today if that education had been available when it could have had the greatest impact.
A properly handled rollover can be completed without taxes or penalties, at no cost.
Retirement decisions have lasting consequences, and timing is critical. Once decisions are made, they’re often difficult to undo.
Before you decide to leave your money where it is—or move it—consider getting a second opinion. If given the opportunity, I would be honored to help you understand your complete financial retirement picture, roll over your funds, invest them strategically for growth, and provide immediate access when needed, along with the flexibility you deserve in retirement.
