Welcome to June, everyone! We are in the homestretch!
I wanted to take a moment to reflect on what a great week we had last week. Although it was a short week, we packed it full of memorable events that truly showcased the spirit of our community.
We celebrated our seniors with the Senior Awards ceremony. The Senior Carnival was a blast, filled with laughter and joy as our students came together for some well-deserved fun. And let’s not forget the amazing performance we witnessed in the play—what a talented group of individuals we have!
Additionally, Newtown had the honor of participating in the AAPI celebration at Elmhurst, highlighting the importance of community.

I wanted to take a moment to share some exciting updates from our recent activities and upcoming events.

Last week, our PTA hosted a successful bake sale to support the sports awards and to provide water and ice for Senior Carnival Night. I’m happy to announce that they will be holding another bake sale this Thursday! Donations are greatly appreciated, so please feel free to contribute.

This week is also packed with events! We will be hosting the Science Fair and Senior Awards Night.

Let's take a moment to congratulate our Varsity Baseball team, they hopped on the train and took on Lincoln High School last Friday in the second round of the Playoffs.

Additionally, our first Annual Art Show was an absolute delight. The talent displayed in the student artwork was truly remarkable, and I was blown away by the creativity and skill of our young artists.

Lastly, I want to remind everyone that elections for next year's PTA are coming up.

Hello everyone,
I am excited to share that yesterday we hosted our First Annual Art Show. Approximately 70 students, families, and staff members joined us to celebrate creativity and artistic expression. Our students proudly showcased their work and shared thoughtful artist statements, highlighting the depth of their ideas and growth.
The event also featured a raffle, where many students won highly sought-after prizes, including digital art tablets, watercolor markers, pencils, and sketchbooks.
I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our dedicated art teachers—Ms. Gerken, Ms. Sepulveda, Ms. Xie, and Mr. Stanziola—for organizing this wonderful event and for inspiring our students to see beauty in the world around them while developing their creativity and artistic voice.
Best wishes,
Ms. Haggerty

Last week was another fantastic week here at Newtown, filled with so many accomplishments worth celebrating. Our baseball team had a wonderful Alumni Day and Senior Night, showcasing the strong spirit of our community. Mr. Reed’s music classes and club delivered an outstanding music performance that left us all in awe. Additionally, our volleyball team celebrated their Senior Night, honoring the dedication of our student-athletes.

Our Culture Clubs also made us proud by visiting IS 5 to perform and showcase their incredible talent. Its times like this that show community we have at Newtown.

Lastly, please consider donating to Thursday’s PTA Bake Sale, where Rob will be working hard to raise funds for our Sports Award Night. Your support is invaluable and greatly appreciated!

What a fantastic week we had! I'm thrilled to share that we raised money for the music club—thank you to everyone who contributed! Let’s not forget that they have a show coming up this week, so be sure to show your support.

Additionally, we successfully raised funds for the crochet club, had a successful week of testing. Remember, our softball girls start the playoffs tomorrow at home, and we’d love to see everyone come out and support them!

Today, our baseball team is celebrating Senior Night at the field, and it would mean a lot if you could join us to cheer them on.

Also, please support our PTA bake sale today! The funds raised will go towards our Sports Awards Night, and your participation would greatly help!

Lastly, a big shoutout to the college office for organizing an amazing Decision Day for our seniors last week.

Hello everyone,
I wanted to take a moment to reflect on the incredible things that have been happening around our school lately. We all get so busy with our daily activities, it’s important to pause and recognize the beauty, hard work, and accomplishments that we have achieved.
Last week’s Fashion Show and the Civic Seal Presentation showcased our students’ talents and the dedication. I’ve attached some pictures from these events for you to enjoy and celebrate our joint efforts!
I’m also thrilled to announce that we have completed our Project Adam training! In the next two weeks, we will proudly present a banner to the school, marking us as the first Heart Safe School in the city.
Happy Teacher Appreciation Week, I want to express how grateful I am for being part of such a supportive and committed team. Your hard work and dedication make a big difference in the lives of our students.
Additionally, I’d like to remind everyone about the upcoming Crochet Club Sale on Thursday and the Music Society Sale on Friday. These events are a wonderful opportunity to support our students and their initiatives.
Thank you all for your continued support and teamwork. Let’s keep celebrating our successes together!
