Lo que vimos ayer en Kissena no fue solo nuevos materiales en las manos pequeñas.
Fueron padres que dejaron que sus hijos se ensuciaran. Que se quedaron cerca sin dirigir. Que observaron en lugar de instruir.
Para muchos de los niños, este fue su primer encuentro con semillas reales, arcilla, tierra, agua, loose parts, pintura. Primeras texturas. Primeros pesos. Primera humedad.
Pero ese primer encuentro solo florece cuando un adulto le da espacio.
Esa combinación — materiales nuevos + un adulto que permite libertad y confía en el proceso — es exactamente la tierra donde crece la curiosidad.

What we saw yesterday at Kissena wasn’t only new materials in small hands. It was parents who let their children get messy. Who stayed close without directing. Who observed instead of instructed.
For so many of these children, it was their first encounter with real seeds, clay, soil, water, loose parts, paint.
But that first encounter only blooms when an adult gives it space.
That combination — new materials + a parent who allows freedom and trusts the process — is exactly the soil in which curiosity grows.

Outdoor play isn’t just about fun. It’s about development.

Natural light supports regulation and circadian rhythm.
Uneven ground strengthens balance, coordination, and core muscles.
Sticks, leaves, water, and textures invite sensory processing, attention, and problem-solving through real experiences.
Outside, children move with purpose.
They observe more deeply.
They connect with the world through their whole body.
Starting May 30, we begin Playdates at the Park — bilingual outdoor sessions at Kissena Park for children ages 1–4.
90 minutes of movement, nature, connection, and open-ended exploration.

Spring is coming to a close, and we would love to welcome you to our final indoor Parent & Me experience in Forest Hills.
A thoughtful morning of exploration, movement, sensory invitations, and connection designed for children ages 2 months to 3 years old.
After this special class, we will begin our outdoor park sessions for children ages 1–4 years old.
Tea for mommy. Hearts through hoops. Petals on paper. Pompoms into bottles.
