This school week is ending in a memorable way for 2026-2027 Wicomico Teacher of the Year Dr. Chelsea Taylor, who will travel from James M. Bennett High to the Maryland Teacher of the Year Gala as one of seven finalists whose name could be called out at the end of the night as the winner.

🚒🔥 Fire Prevention Week at WSP! 🔥🚒

Our Mustangs were excited to welcome the Westside Fire Department for an important lesson on fire safety! Students learned how to prevent fires, recognize fire hazards, know what to do if a fire occurs, and the importance of having a safe escape plan.

A HUGE thank you to our amazing community partners for stopping by, sharing your expertise, and helping our students learn how to stay safe at school and at home! ❤️🚒

A Superintendent's Open Door Session will take place from 4-6 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7. Time with Superintendent of Schools Dr. Micah Stauffer is on a first-come, first-served basis, at the school system's main office at 2424 Northgate Drive, Salisbury.

The next monthly meeting of the Wicomico County Board of Education is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, October 13, 2026, in the Board of Education Auditorium at 101 Long Ave., Salisbury.

For this Board meeting, the Board will convene at 1:00 p.m. and immediately vote to go into closed session. The open portion of the meeting will begin at about 1:30 p.m. The agenda for this meeting is available at https://wicomico-schools.community.highbond.com/Portal/

To register for public comments, please visit the pre-registration page (https://board_public_comments.wicomicoschools.org/), which is open from October 6 - 12. Anyone unable to pre-register online may visit the school system office at 2424 Northgate Drive during business hours to fill out a paper copy of the pre-registration form.

This meeting will be livestreamed on the Watch Board Meetings page of the school system's website - www.wicomicoschools.org
