Curated by nico w. okoro in celebration of CCSRE’s 20th Anniversary, Borderlands includes a wide span of media: from vibrant, large scale paintings and text installations, to hand-sewn talismans and personal photographs. These works critique social binaries and geographical borders invented to sow division. Each artist draws upon personal history, collective memory, and intergenerational trauma and triumph to uniquely re-envision and reshape our fractured world.
Featured artists: Ophelia Arc, Nic[o] Brierre Aziz, Alex Callender (Conn Class of ‘02 alumna), Adger Cowans, Lewis Dérogène, Adama Delphine Fawundu, Shabez Jamal, Fidelis Joseph, Nsenga Knight, Ron Norsworthy, Theda Sandiford, Toby Sisson, and Amanda Russhell Wallace (Conn Assistant Professor of Studio Art).
